Striving for a healthy life is new to me - mostly I've just muddled through doing as I pleased, with occasional bouts of dieting being rare punctuation to the long stretches of indulgence. I've finally reached the frustration point with my promises of getting more healthy "someday".

Today I'm building the determination to take good care of myself for a long, long lifetime. (And have some chance of keeping up with my fit and active husband!)

Top 3 pastimes: traveling, reading and spiritual practice. (I don't think these will ever be replaced by exercising, cooking and gardening, but maybe those will make the top 10 someday. . .).

3/15/2010 - Started seriously dieting again with Weight Watchers. Starting weight this round: 224.2 lbs. (Highest ever weight: 238 lbs)

6/21/2010 - Started building a weekly cardio routine.

7/2/2010 - Joined SparkPeople.

7/3/2010 - Met/exceeded my weekly cardio target of 150 minutes for the first time.

7/12/2010 - BMI dropped from "obese" to "overweight".

7/24/2010 - Crossed the 500 fitness minutes threshold (SP gave credit for it twice, once too early!)

7/27/2010 - Lost 20 lbs since starting again with Weight Watchers (~6 of them since starting SparkPeople).

8/2/2010 - Crossed below the 200-lb mark! W00T!!!

My Goals:
In October 2010, I want to have more toned upper arms when I attend my husband's sister's SC beach wedding. Not perfect, just no so much the "bingo arms" that I have now. ;)

I want to be fit enough to be able to hike a 13-mile scenic trail and bicycle an 18-mile scenic trail in Anglesey, Wales in. . . October 2011, maybe? (The 2010 trip plans have been postponed.)

After I reach my goal weight of 165 lbs, my husband and I plan to rent a cottage in the Burgundy region of France and bicycle around the vineyards. :)

Once I'm maintaining, I want to get fit enough and build the upper body strength to pursue aerial dance with a local company, The Cabiri.

I also want to learn how to windsurf. :)

My Program:
I am a member of Weight Watchers Online and am using their tools for diet tracking, but find the SparkPeople support community to be more to my liking.

I am exercising (at least) 30 minutes 5 times a week on my airdyne-style stationary bike at home, and working to build a strength training program 2-3 times a week at the gym.

Outside, I recently got a street bike and I enjoy hiking. I also want to get more into kayaking this summer.

Personal Information:
Married, 2 cats, 0 kids. I work for a small software company in downtown Seattle. My husband and I bought a house in north Seattle last fall and are learning the responsibilities of a yard and garden. :)

Other Information:
PLEASE NOTE: I don't automatically counter-friend anyone who friends me. This isn't intended to shun anyone, I just want a little more info on what I might have in common with someone. If I haven't interacted with you on a message board or Team, please leave a comment or send a SparkMail so I have a way of knowing a bit about who you are. Thanks!
