I LOVE SP!! I have been a member of SP since 12/29/08. I've been learning to make my health a higher priority. I am comfortable with & love myself at any weight; I just want to be healthy. I come from a morbidly obese family & grew up being told it was just in my genes. It wasn't until I was in my 30s that I thought to test that theory...& by then I was already a wife, a mom, a foster mom, a home owner, & a graduate student. In my first solid crack at SP, I lost 50 lbs (2009). Then I decided to join the Air Force, which resulted in me pushing hard & ultimately losing another 40 lbs...for a grand total of 90 lbs lost (2013)! After completing a 4 year active duty contract & now being a licensed psychologist (+ 3 states later), I've regressed to only 35 lbs down from my baseline weight. In 2015, I became deathly ill & was eventually diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. It's been a game-changer. Between that & stress, the aforementioned regression happened. Today, I'm determined to optimize my health -- just with different goals in mind. I want to drop some weight to do my spine & joints a favor. I want to learn new ways of exercising that fit within my physical limitations. My illness may have put up a hurdle, but it's not a barrier. Here's to refocusing my efforts...
