My name is Katie, and I am just beginning my journey. I've always been one to start out with the best of intentions for eating well and exercising only to give up and make excuses. This time, I want to be successful and start feeling good about myself. I'm so tired of being insecure with the way I look, and I'm worried that if I don't change it's going to begin to effect me in both my personal and professional life. I need to be accountable, and hopefully sparkpeople can help me with that!

I am going on vacation in May with my family, and I would really like to feel better about myself for that. We're going to Europe, and I don't want to look back at the pictures and feel bad about the way I look in them. After that, I will have to focus on finding a career. I will be done with school in May of 2012, and I want to be a new person when I enter the "real world"!

My Goals:
1. Feel good about the way I look rather than worry so much about my weight as a number. (long term)

2. Have at least a 1000 deficit between the calories I burn and the calories I eat. I have read that this is what needs to be done to lose 2 pounds per week. (short term)



My Program:
I use a bodymedia fit arm band, like the ones on the Biggest Loser. I use this to keep track of my calories in and calories out. I work out with a trainer 3 times per week. We focus on strength training, and he gives me guidelines for cardio work I am to do on my own.



Personal Information:
I live at home with my parents in Iowa and am studying Web Design. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Management and wasn't able to find the kind of work I wanted, so I moved home and started fresh. I hope this program will make finding a job that I want easier!

    Thank you! It seems like I've tried to lose and failed a lot of times before now...this time is it though! I feel like I've said that in the past lol, but this time just feels different...much better actually! I'm glad that you're liking weight watchers! I know some people who have been really successful with it. I think it's great because it's just sensible eating; no crazy diet fad. Good luck at your weigh in!!!!

    Welcome to Sparkpeople!! I think you will love it because there are so many people who are sooooooooooooooooo supportive!! In my non-spark life it is hard to find people who understand the journey I am on which is why I love SP! I joined years ago but then never used it and now I'm back...and I'm back for real!! :) I started Weight Watchers last Thursday and I'm feeling so good I am excited for this coming weigh in!! My weight loss journey has been a long time challenge but I'm ready!! emoticon
