I was introduced to Spark through a work weight loss program. I'm trying to maintain all the weight I've lost. It's been a long journey from 200+ to around 140. I still fight some of the same demons.

I started loosing weight in 2002 when I simply refused to buy a size 20 jeans. I knew it wasn't healthy to eat a whole box of Mac and Cheese by myself. So, I started paying attention to my portions and taking walks. Soon the walks became jogs and the weight started coming off!

People would ask me what diet I'd been on. I'd say - "I'm not on a diet. You know all those things you know you're suppose to do to be healthy? That's what I'm doing." People would usually be disappointed, like I was suppose to let them in on some big secret. It's not a secret, it's just healthy living.

I've lost track of some of those healthier habits. I tell myself I don't have time, but there are some things I could still be doing - drinking water and making healthier food choices, and not buying that UDF chocolate shake.

My Goals:
1- get to and maintain a weight between 135 and 140.

2- Live HEALTHY and HAPPY.

3- make it a lifestyle - not a diet

My Program:
tracking food, exercise, low-fat, wheat-free, high fiber. Portion control is key. I love the article with the BMR in "Why calories are King". This is so much more helpful than the BMI.

Personal Information:
Philadelphia Suburb native. Currently living in Cincinnati. Enjoy exploring state parks, camping, biking, hiking, (almost anything outdoors except spiders), reading, movies, music, car shows.

Other Information:
"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not." ~~Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Success is the ability to go from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm." ~Winston Churchill

"Think about how stupid the average person is, then realize that half the population is stupider." ~George Carlin

"Don't ask so much what the world needs. Go out and do what makes you come alive, because what the world needs most is people who have come alive." ~ Howard Thurman

"How delighted I shall be to ramble for a while through bushes, woods, under trees, through grass and around rocks. No one can love the country as much as I do. For surely woods, trees, and rocks produce the echo which man desires to hear." -Ludwig Van Beethoven, in a letter, 1810

"Grudges get heaviers, the longer they are carried." ~P.K. Thomajan
