I'm a 38 year-young SAHM, full time college student, and proud military spouse looking to make some healthier lifestyle changes not only gain a healthier body, but also gain a healthier self-image. I've wasted too much time self deprecating that's for sure. For me, it's not about reaching some societal based standard of beauty, but about feeling genuinely awesome in my own skin!

I have a mothers body, yes, but I don't want to look good for a mother - I want to look good for a woman, period! Some of the body flaws that come from pregnancy (the lovely stretch marks, saggy pooch belly and deflated boobs) are things I cannot remedy unless I find about $10,000 and a good surgeon, but my weight and fitness are things that I can control. My health is in my power! I just need a little help gaining that inner strength to push forward from time to time. I need help, too, accepting the things I cannot change and learning to love my body ...yes, flaws and all. And hey, if you happen to have a spare stash of, oh about, $10K laying around, give me a holler. *wink*

I seriously hate dieting.
I'm also not a huge fan of waking up at 6am to get the fitness done.
But I do like being healthy. I also like being able to kick my children's butts in tag! And so I do things I don't like to do so that I can be the person I want to be.

"To become something you've never been, you have to do things you've never done"!


People will often tell me -based on pictures- that I don't need to lose weight; that I look good as is. They'll ask why I feel a need to be skinny or any number of other silly things like that. I know these are meant as compliments, but there is something very icky about the sentiment.

Fact 1: I'm only 5'1"
Fact 2: The healthy weight range for my height, age, and gender is between 101-130 (I am currently at 136, which is 6 pounds over my max).
Fact 3: The ideal BMI for my height, age, and gender is between 19-25 (I am currently at 25.7 and into the 'unhealthy' zone.

So the reality is, I do need to improve myself because I am not comfortable being at the high end of my ideals. And it's not about meeting some lofty expectation. I know that my body has changed with age, as has my metabolism. So I'm keeping my goals realistic. I'd like to hit 122lbs with a BMI between 21-25). I think these are both attainable if I work hard and make the necessary life style changes to suit my body type needs, which may be very different to other women my age.

A combo of DVDS (Jillian Michaels, mostly), walking, gym time with my daughter.

Personal Information:
Native Texan, but have grown very fond of Colorado.

I have two evil genius spawn (ages 14 & 11). They've been worth every single penny so far.

I'm a little bit punk, a lot more rock, a smidgen hippie, a dash if indie, and a whole lot of southern. I don't understand it either, but it is what it is.

I am a spiritually liberal Buddhist and a lover of laughs, good food, good drinks, and good people.

I will (FINALLY!) be graduating college in early 2013 with a degree in sociology. I dig people. I also dig helping people. I figure there's something good I can do with that.

I don't believe age defines anything (except good cheese and wine).

Other Information:
I love tattoos, blogging, and being a goofball. Despite my colorful skin (and sometimes colorful hair) I am very down to earth, laid back, and take the role of 'mom' pretty seriously. I laugh a lot and enjoy my vanilla life taking care of my home and family. I'm pretty darn good at it, too.

    Thanks for stopping by. =) Texas is definitely a great place to live. We go to Sea World all the time, but we are only 15 minutes away, so we'd be crazy if we didn't. It is a great workout to run around the park. It will definitely be great to be able to go in a swim suit and feel confident though. One of my goals to reach in 2010. =)

    Arent we all continuously starting over? I mean, you have to take it day by day. And with allllll the other diets all of us have tried, once you fall off said bandwagon, then you have to "start over"

    What do you call it when you go to start over a teensy bit fatter than when you started originally? haha

    I'm not sweating it.
