Hi! My name is Jasmine and I am the mother of three and going to school full time to work on my Master's Degree. I was chubby before I had children, and each pregnancy added a bit more "baby fat." I actually had gestational diabetes start in my second and third pregnancies, and since I have a history of diabetes in my family, this caused me to sit up and take notice. So after the birth of my third child and recovering from having three kids (that took about a year for me to mentally adjust!), I have decided to chose to have a healthier lifestyle for me and my family.

I started this journey seriously in Jan. 2010 and was elated when I was within 15 lbs. of my goal weight after three months (I had lost 20 lbs). However, not really considering how to maintain the weight loss and giving myself "permission" to "relax" had me right back where I started three months later.

I am starting again and I am excited this time about doing it right and maintaining it. I remind myself that this is not a diet, but a lifestyle change. I am hoping to learn how to maintain the weight loss I achieve and also, to maintain a healthy lifestyle. When I am losing weight, I feel energetic, confident and happy. When I am "taking a break," I feel sluggish, tired and insecure.

So far Sparkpeople has been a great place for me to reflect, document and work towards my weight loss goals. It has also been a great place for me to meet others and feel supported on my journey. I am praying that God blesses this effort and helps me attain my weight loss goals. It's a daily struggle, but it's one that can be accomplished, wiht His help and His grace! With Him "all things are possible!"

My Goals:
My goals include:
1) Exercising at least three times a week
2) Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day
3) Watching portions, eating heatlthier
4) Waking up early and exercising before work/school and everyone is awake!
5)Consistency and Maintenance: I have gotten close to my goal and I don't want to start over again! I want to learn how to be consistent and maintain a healthy weight and exercise routine. This is a lifestyle--not a diet!

My Program:
Goal: Exercise 3x a week

Maintain 1200-1500 calories daily and log onto SP

Drink minimum of 8 glasses of water a day

Quiet time with God daily

    ur welcome to let anybody look to the progress hopefully they will not notice that i am struggling lately after a lot of kahk and cookies and yummy food but i will be in track soon like last year inshallah

    Thank you Jasmine for your support. I really appreciate it. It is good to know that I am not the only one dragging my feet when it comes to exercise. I like your points about the gym and all the equipment. I have to think about it.
    Costco has a sale for 24 hour fitness center. It comes to $12 per month for 2 years. That sounds good. I guess I have to just check out the 24 hour gym in my are and see if I like it. I am really proud of you too. It takes guts to keep going even when the progress is slow. Good job!

    i dont think i will go to the monastery i have work saturdays and i will miss march 6 because i am going with mina to santa maria if i recall the name right of that town
