I joined SparkPeople 2 years ago. I didn't use the Spark Plan - I was counting Weight Watchers points. I was pretty successful with it and eventually stopped tracking everything. My good habits all fell by the wayside and all of the progress I made was lost.

Thanks to my good friend, I'm back. This time I'm following the Spark Plan and reading up on all the good information. I'm trying to connect with others on the site to make more friends - real people that will hold me accountable to reach my goals. I don't have much support at home but this site is great!

6/3/10 - I ran my first 5K on 5/30/10. I don't claim to love running, but it's a great way to see progress quickly. 8 weeks prior to the race I was only able to run half of a mile in short spurts. 3.1 miles feels like a huge accomplishment and I can't wait to see how much further I can push myself.

My Goals:
1) Run the entire 5K I've signed up for on May 30. - CHECK!

2) Make exercise a regular part of my life.

3) Be able to wear running shorts to run. To look good in them and be comfortable in them.

4) Go back to school and get a better idea of what I want in life.

My Program:
Basically using SparkPeople to track my calories and set my goals. I also use the SparkPeople strength-training exercises.

My training class for the 5K is now over so I'm looking for a new goal. Should I aim for another 5K and try to beat my time? or should I try for a 10K and increase my distance. In any case, I want to keep running!

Personal Information:
I live in Roseville, Michigan. I work in IT. I'd like to go back to school, but I feel like I need to decide what I want to be when I grow up first.

Other Information:
Friends and family always come first on my list of favorite things. I love to play board games, make puzzles, or just sit and chat with the people I love.

I'm also a big video game dork. I get sucked into a game and can't stop thinking about it until I beat it or it beats me. I know I start to go a little crazy if I don't give myself enough time to relax with some video gaming.

I also love music. Classic Rock, modern rock, techno, pop, classical. I'm not a snob about music (though I know plenty of them). I usually enjoy whatever is on. And if it makes me dance it's a winner!

    Look at that - less than 160! I saw that for like, half a second, like the day before I found out I was pregnant. I wonder if I'll ever see it again!?

    It was way too long. As long as you make decisions when it feels like the right time to make them :)

    I think we all suck at dating. I think we just muddle through until we find someone else who sucks in a similar way and it works. I might be a little jaded, though, lol.

    To tell you the truth, I still don't believe I can meet my weight loss goals. It is something I have never achieved. The thought of being thin is just so foreign to me. I try not to think about it, actually... It makes me discouraged. But instead of thinking about it, I focus on the training program. I know that I can run - feeling incredibly uncomfortable - for over an hour, so I can definitely do a strength training workout. And I am more natural at gaining muscle than running - I felt that way before, when I used to work out at Planet Fitness. I used more weight for my legs than Airin was using before I got pregnant. I think I can do all seven stages of that training program, as long as I have the equipment. I just focus on that...
