Like most people, I have been trying to lose weight for decades. This time I feel like it is within my reach. I have to get healthier. After everything I've been thru the last few years. I'm looking forward to a more positive, productive and happier life.

I also want to find out just how I am. I feel pretty confident about myself, but most of my life has been devoted to other people. Over the last few years I have overcome congestive heart failure, severe anemia and cervical cancer. Twice in my life I went thru sheer terror thinking that my life might be over. But thru all that with faith and my determination I made it thru.

Losing my excess weight is truly the last big obstacle to overcome. There are a lot of things I still want to experience and accomplish in my life but this has been a problem for me for over forty years.

Recently I found out I have type 2 diabetes. Now I'm on a 1500 calorie program and getting more active. I do not want my condition to get any worse. There is so much more I want to do in my life. And with the help of my doctor and Sparkpeople I know I can do this.

I'm still searching for the true me. But the search is half the fun.

My goal is pretty simple. Reach a healthy weight and live a healthy lifestyle without having to think about it.

American Diabetes 1500 calories a day and get up and move.

1) Forget about the scales - it's just a number. As long as it's less than the last one, I'm happy.

2) Focus more on living my healthy lifestyle.

3) Work towards training to run at least a half marathon by the end of this year.

4) Track everything on SparkPeople to stay aware.

    The flowers and blossoms are filling the air with the smells of Spring. This is the time to start preparing for the Summer. Are you ready to join a Challenge? The Biggest Loser Challenge is looking for members for it’s next Challenge starting the first week of June. The challenge consists of 11 Teams, that participate in 10 weeks of Nutritional and Fitness Challenges. These challenges can be modified to fit individual needs, allowing members of all abilities and dietary needs to participate.
