Hi! I'm Jan. When I joined seven years ago, I weighed 250lbs. Spark People helped me lose and maintain an 80lb weight loss for four years but a severe car accident in October 2013 resulting in a fractured skull, sent my weight spiraling up as I battled constant pain and was unable to exercise. When I found myself within twenty -five pounds of my original weight in December 2014, I was horrified and determined not to go back. Today, I am 10 pounds away from my GOAL weight. How did I do it? WALK. If you can't get to a gym or afford one-- walk! If you can't walk outside, walk inside. I have been amazed at what simply walking has done for me in terms of weight loss and muscle tone. I walk with weights on my legs and arms now but at first I just walked. At least 10,000 steps a day. My goal is 13,000 steps and 45 active minutes per day If you can possibly afford it, buy a FitBit or any one of the equivalent products and start tracking your steps. Join the challenges with your friends and have fun! Drink water! Be kind to yourself and remember that plateaus will come and they will go! Weigh yourself at least once a week and remember, even one pound a week is fifty-two pounds a year. Never give up, love life and remember to... "Forget the past. My Goals:
New Goals Set on 11/26/12

To learn healthy eating habits that nourish my mind and my body.

To reach my goal weight of 150lbs by December 31st, 2013.

To be able to get on and off my horse when we go riding in the Black Hills in June without a mounting block.

To continue to encourage and support other people as they strive to reach their goals.

My Program:
I weigh every day. I know this doesn't work for everyone but it works for me.

I use Spark People's Fitness and Nutrition Trackers every day without exception!

I always eat breakfast, and I drink water as my beverage of preference.

Personal Information:
I'm 52, married with five children, age 26 to 12 years and seven grandchildren.

I live on a small farm, and work off the farm with intellectually challenged people. I LOVE my job. It is so rewarding.

We raise Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses and rare breed chickens.

I am a writer, with several short stories and articles published in newspapers, magazines and online magazines.

I do a lot of writing on the site called FanStory.com under the name of Janilou. I write a lot of inspirational fiction as well as other genres.

Movies - The Narnia series, The Host, Safe Haven, Twilight, Harry Potter -- so many movies I love!

Books - I love to read. I have so many favorites, it's impossible to list them all!
