In recent years I have had a series of leg, ankle injuries, that were partial misdiagnosed or treated incorrectly, plus back and neck problems , all of which left me in a lot of pain for a long period of time. The leg and ankle injuries are finally better (knock on wood), the back problems continue, but I now get shots four times a year which has made a huge difference. Physical therapy has had a big impact as well. I'm finally feeling better, but find myself weighing a lot more than is healthy for me. It is important that I lose 40 to 50 lbs., both for health and mental health reasons. Any help I can get from the wonderful Spark People would be a bonus.

My Goals:
I want to lose the weight to lessen the stress on my back and legs, I want to look and more importantly feel better. I want to go for long walks on nice days. I want to do more stuff, without hurting afterwards.

My Program:
My short term goals are no cola, and at least 10 minutes of stretching per day, plus keeping a journal. Long term goals are to lose weight and keep it off, feel and be healthier, learn to make better food choices, and to have an easier time buying good fitting clothes. Right now I hate to clothes shop!

Personal Information:
I'm from Massachusetts, although I lived for a number of years in Connecticut, and a few years in Pennsylvania and Florida as well. I'm married (30 years this summer). I have 2 step-daughters and 5 grandchildren. I also have 3 brothers.

Audrey Niffenegger's THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE. Currently reading: THE THIRTEENTH TALE, by Diane Setterfield; and Erik Larson's THUNDERSTRUCK.
I also love music (almost any type), theater, and the arts in general.
