Hi!

I'm Jan, I live in the New Orleans Area and looking for a Spark Buddy.

On October 5, 2008 I will be 54 and on October 6, 2008, I will start this program in order to Feel & Look Better! I will give myself an entire year to acheive my goal of losing 50 or more pounds!


October 6, 2008 - Day 1 - I woke up super early for me 5:30. Was anxious about program, so I couldn't stay in bed : ) It is 8:20 and I have exercised for the morning and I am eating breakfast. So far I am feeling very motivated about the day and my new life!

October 13, 2008 - Day 8 - Weighed In for the first time, Lost 2 lbs. I was wishing for a better first time weigh in but a loss is a loss!

October 20, 2008 - Day 15 - Weighed in for the second time, (second week), and to my amazement I lost 3.5 lbs! I always thought your second week was always worse then the first? Well I am very pleased to be down 5.5 lbs in two weeks and I am hoping I continue to lose about 2 lbs. a week, so that when the holidays come I will have a little head start just in case lol.

October 27, 2008 - Day 22 - Weighed in for the third time. (third week). and another 2 lbs loss!!! I am still waiting for that week when you hit the old preverbial plateau. If it happens next week or any week in the near future I will stay optimistic and get past it.

November 3, 2008 - Day 29 - Weighed in for my 4th time (fourth week) and I had a 1 lb gain, and I even gained inches. I knew it would happen eventually. I really have been off my plan as far as food calories and exercising more, so not sure what to adjust right now. Will measure everything this week and log in everything I eat even if I go over my calories. Exercise will continue to increase, so once I figure out what I am doing with my calories I can adjust my eating and hopfully have a loss next week. I am very disappointed in myself but I have to realize 6 -1/2 lbs in a month isn't so bad.

November 10 - Week 5 (5th Weigh In) I was able to lose the 1 lb I gained last week, so now I am back to the 7 - 1/2 lbs loss. I tried to measure everything as I mentioned but sometimes that is hard for me. I did the best I could on some items and the others I guessed at. I was sick two days last week and those two days at home was hard. Being at home with nothing to do but fell sick is a good way to blow your calories. I know at points in those two days I totally blew my calories, but the days I was being careful paid off. I think next week I will weight myself one more time weekly, then will only weigh in monthly, or at least note my weigh ins here when I have had a good result or more then 1 lb.

11/18/09 - Week 6 - (sixth weigh in). This will be my last weekly weigh in, after today I will just weigh in once a month. Weekly weigh in's are not working to my advantage at all. It appears every week since week 4 I have had a bad week with illness or some kind of family function which I didn't eat well at. My grandson 2nd birthday party didn't help my total this week, and not working out thee days this week didn't help. I am currently at the same weight if not a little higher then last week. My measurements I fear are not correct it is so hard to measure over rolls of fat. Another reason why I am only going to measure myself every month, that way I will see a change.

I am still optimistic about this program and my future weight loss!

After 6 weeks I have lost about 7 pounds and in my mind as long as I continue to lose an average of 1 pound a week, I will meet my goal of 50 lbs by October 5, 2009!

December 1, 2008 - My current weight is 227 - 1/2, which finally gives me a 10 pound loss in 8 weeks. I have had some gains at times in the first two months and even with Thanksgiving dinner being part of those two months I am happy to be where I am. I think weighing myself every month and reporting it here is working out better for me. I must admit I will jump on the scale once or sometimes twice a week just to make sure I don't have to adjust my eatting or exerciseing to continue to see those numbers getting lower! : ) I will be back January 2009, Until then Happy Holidays All!!!

01/05/09 - Well the holidays are all over and I have to be honest and tell you I went kind of crazy in December. I got on the scale a couple of times in December amd I knew it would be a weight gain because of the holidays and there were times I did have a gain. But here it is January 5, 2009 the day I start back on the program and believe it or not I am right back where I was when I last logged in my weight 227.5 lbs. Not something I am proud of but I am a optimistic person more so then pestimistic, so even through the holidays I didn't lose any weight I am happy to say I didn't gain any either : ) Well best to all of you who took off during the holidays and lets be strong and get back into the swing of things and make our goals the rest of the year! Happy New Year All!!!
