At my worst, in June of 2006, I weighed 311 lbs. One night we had water pipes explode due to increased pressure. In my run to the telephone for help, my wet feet hit the linoleum and when I landed I tore the ligaments in my knee.
The surgeon said I had to lose weight, but gastric bypass is not an option for me. He said that he'd see me in two years for knee replacement. But with it taking more than 3 mths for this minor surgery to heal, would replacement heal at all?
I began losing then, because I was simply in too much pain to get to the fridge. I reduced, then eliminated all the snacking I was doing. I began to eat more fruit and vegs, not snacks. When I fell to one side, instead of binging for a week, I went right back to the schedule.
I'm now at 167. I'd like to reach 135 - 140, but also I really need to tone up all the loose skin I have from all this loss! I know that might not be totally possible, but if I can tighten my muscles it may help some.

Joining UALR Boot Camp to force me to exercise!

Begin to hike. YEP

Begin to ride bike - have to get her fixed first! lol

Park in back of parking lots to make me walk more. YEP

SCRUB AND CLEAN!!!

I'm a non-traditional student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, working on my MA - gerontology - I will graduate May 15, 2010.

I am in the National Assoc. of Social Workers, the Arkansas Gerontological Society, the Epilepsy Foundation of America, the Indian Intertribal Assoc. of Arkansas, the UALR Adult Student Advocacy Program, and the UALR Master of Social Work Organization.

I've always loved crafting. I had my own business in beadwork for 20 years.
