July 2013-A brief update is in order. My sparkpage data is several years old. I am now fixing to turn 65 and have been married for 47 years. I went from a skinny chick my entire life, to weighing 202 tops. Once I hit my 50's, and continued the same eating habits, the weight piled on. Apparently my metabolism croaked before the rest of me!

The last decade I have yo-yoed between 202 and 165. I have learned so much about food, nutrition and exercise. I have also made every error there is in the journey to loose weight. No big deal. Stumble, fall, get up. Brush it off and keep going.

At this point I still need to loose at least 15 pounds. 25 would be better. But I eat healthy, get in as much movement as I can, and keep on keeping on. COPD and a bad wheel (broke one of my legs entirely in half a few years ago-spent a year in a wheelchair) somewhat limit me. I do my best to kick em in the bootie and stay as victorious as possible.
August 15, 2009: Starting Anew-Again
Much has happened since I first started this sparkpage in 2006. I went from 192 to 168-167 range, changed careers at the ripe old age of 59, set by and worried about my father as he battled illness, put some weight back on, and lost focus. Then in early March of last year I tripped in a rain puddle and broke my leg. Not a little break. No sir. I broke the fibia and tibula bones (the major bones) completely in half and shattered all the little bones in my ankle.

I've recovered now but spending 10 months in a wheelchair and then on a walker and I piled the weight back on, plus some. Up to 202.2, the highest weight of my life. Not a number I ever expected to see.

Yep...not only did I have periods in which I overate, I also went from daily activity and exercise to sitting...24/7 for months. Guess what that does to you?

Well, I am now 60-something years old and plan to soon be fit, firm and even more fabulous...

At age 57 (I'm now 60) I finally smartened up and decided to get healthy. I had smoked heavily for 40 years. A couple of years ago I decided to give it up. Wow. It has been an ongoing struggle that I THINK I have finally won. However, during the course of the struggle I gained a ton of weight. I knew I had gotten 'plump' but had no idea that I was up to 190lbs.. When I stepped on the scale and saw that I about croaked right there on the spot. So, at age 57 I had to learn to not smoke, start eating healthy, and begin exercising. I HATE to exercise but am getting used to it. My body is beginning to crave it when I miss.

The damage I have done to myself through smoking makes exercise a difficulty. Slowly I am getting more stamina. Additionally, I had a kidney disease and required a number of surgeries. Finally in April of 2006 one of my kidneys was removed.

Where will this adventure lead? Hopefully to good health. Although I have struggled with consistency in making good daily food and exercise choices, everyday is a learning process. Whenever I start to beat myself up over a 'bad' day I remind myself where I came from. At age 59 I can truly say my health situation is better then it has been in years. I feel energetic and invigorated. It's all good.

Fitness Minutes: 28,460

My Goals:
Quit a 40 year smoking habit and loose the weight I have gained while fighting this battle. I''d like to get back down to my ''fighting'' weight of 155. At my age I really feel no need to go much below that. At 155 I look terrific.

My Program:
Following a combination of Biggest Loser plan and Sparkpeoples. I am also doing cardio and strength training 6 days a week for approximately 30 minutes a day.

Personal Information:
I am a native Floridian currently living in the mountains of east Tennessee. My passions are my husband of 40 years, children and grandchildren, reading, and exploring various abilities of consciousness such as out-of-bodies, the dream environment, telepathy and so forth.
