Twenty years ago, at the age of 21, if someone would have told me that by age 41 I would weigh 180+, I would have laughed. Back then, I averaged around 125-130, and was able to maintain that with little effort, even after having 2 kids. Sounds good right?

Then, I entered my 30's and noticed some changes. Small changes..nothing I couldn't handle. But, still, changes. Such as, not being able to eat anything I wanted anytime I wanted. I had to start working at keeping my weight reasonable. I dieted a few times, and was successful. However, if I didn't continue working at it, the weight came back, usually with a few extra.

Another change I had to deal with started at about age 35. My monthly cycle was getting impossible to deal with. I dealt with massive cramping, so bad at times that I wasn't able to go to work. A few months before my 38th birthday, I was diagnosed with with several massive tumors, covering practically every organ in my reproductive system. My only option? A full hysterectomy at age 37. Thankfully, the tumors were benign, and the surgery was successful.

Six months or so after surgery, I started noticing changes. Skin that didn't quite glow the same, hair that looked lifeless, a crabby disposition, despite being on Hormone therapy. And the worst change? Weight gain. Even though I hadn't changed my eating habits, the weight came on...and on...and on. It rocketed up so fast I barely had time to realize it, much less control it.

In 3 short years, I went from 7/8 jeans to 15/16. I am no longer able to wear the cute tops that mock me in my closet. I wear big tops and sweatshirts in an effort to hide. I've gotten so depressed, that I don't even bother with make-up, or wearing contacts, or even trying to take care of myself the way I should. My norm became McDonalds 5-6 times a week, pastries from the snack machine at work, "dinners" consisting of an entire bag of chips and ice cream.

I joined SparkPeople a year ago and had some small success. I had a full month of eating right, exercising daily, reading labels at the grocery store, and counting every calorie I consumed. Then like sort of consumed me and I forgot about why I came here. It was easier to continue on the destructive path I was on then it was to really CHANGE!!

Then came my ah-ha moment. After Christmas, my fiance and I were looking at pictures. Who was the woman with the fat face and fat gut? Me?? Can't be. Sadly, it is me.

So, here I am SparkPeople. Finally committed and ready to change me for good!
