My first time around with Spark People motivated me to go back to school and lose 30lbs. Spark People also encouraged me to have more confidence in myself & go back to college (finally graduated May 2014). I have been gone a long time from this site but realized when the scale reached 180 that things really have needed intervention. My mom died a year ago Dec 15th, and I held her hand through this process (dropping out of Graduate school) to help, care, advocate and love her until the end. I started up Graduate school this past June and just ended my second semester. I recently too just broke my dominant right arm (which is devastating to me as I love to write, draw, paint and play beginning classical guitar AND (as I said am in Graduate school). So life is offering up some REAL challenges. I hope to find my way again. My health seems very compromised and my energy low. I remember loving Spark People as it saved me from myself and gave me new tools to live with. I am here again to find myself.

Thanks for the add. Strangely enough also recovering from a broken arm. Not dominant thankfully. That one already has a shoulder replacement. Hope to see you on the deck.

:) IF you need patience, THEN: calm yourself by losing yourself in meditation OR a good book OR movie OR hobby OR hard work OR any variety of 'flow' therapy. Find a small rubber ball or anything softish that fits in your right palm. Keep it there, gently --always gently-- squeezing and opening as widely as seems appropriate to you. When you breathe deeply, sometimes you can feel a flame of heat in the area below the break. That means your circulation is picking up, you are healing. I have advanced osteoporosis, have broken my wrists many times.. you'll be fine. Eat well and be kind to yourself. Be grateful for your remaining joints. Laugh! Actually your anger and impatience can make you strong too if you channel it wisely ..

You're right--it is a real mixed bunch of feelings. And knowing that I maybe helped somebody does give me the courage and incentive to pick up and dust myself off. Thank you for your understanding.
