I believed and used all of the excuses, too. One of my favorites was...The scale keeps going up because I'm gaining muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. I told myself that one for quite some time.

The truth was I was not being consistant with my workouts or diet. I would go to fitness classes 1-2 days per week and not work out on most of the other days because I was too sore...another excuse. The first few months I dropped a little of the weight 20-25lb, but then plateaued for about 8 months.

It is true that I was gaining some muscle from the fitness classes.But the main reason I wasn't losing any weight was that I would constantly eat donuts for breakfast, lunch at restaurants with co-workers and eat unhealthy meals and snacks on top of not working out enough. I was not counting my calories.

Starting in May 2010, I went from working out 1-2 times per week to working out 5-6 days per week. Then, I replaced the high calorie breakfasts and lunches with nutrilite shakes, fruit, and vegetables as well as taking Double X vitamins. I love these products so much that I now sell them through my business. Let me know if you are interested in learning more about them.

I also started to count both calories in and calories out. Occasionally, I do have treats but then I work out extra to balance the additional calories in.

The results speak for themselves. My weight in May 2010 was around 210 pounds. My starting weight was 243 lb. As of this week, I weigh 172.6 pounds. The Web MD waist to height ratio calculator says that I'm in the normal range.

The lesson never accept excuses from yourself and do not let others make excuses for you. Work hard to get the results you want.

My Goals:
In the next year, my goals are to drop the remaining 34 lb, gain a lot of muscle definition(to look sort of like Jillian Michaels on the front of her book, Making the Cut), and maybe even get my endurance to the point that I can be competitive in 5K races.

And above all else, my long term goal is to never, ever be the fat girl again. I'm done....forever :)

My Program:
My workouts are challenging, but that's what I love about them :)Currently, I take fitness classes 6 days per week for an hour each day at Milaca Snap Fitness. The classes consist of a mix of cardio and resistance training. Then, I usually do cardio for an hour afterward on my own. My heart rate monitor says I burn between 500 and 1000 calories for a typical workout session. I enjoy the Insanity DVD's by Beachbody and do those sometimes, too. When I workout, I want to sweat so needless to say, my days of counting house and yardwork as exercise are over. I do not count those on my fitness tracker.
