I AM LOOKING FOR A BUDDY!!

I would like to get the excess weight off. Can we help each other? I am looking for a buddy near Elkton, KY (Hopkinsville or Russellville, KY or Clarksville, TN) areas. I would prefer someone who lives close enough so we could actually meet and do things together occasionally.

I am divorced (Sept. 07) and I am trying to stay off of the emotional roller coaster that started with my separation months before the divorce. It has led to a significant weight gain (78 lbs). I was only 11 lbs from my goal weight when my separation began. I made a good start st SparkPeople, but slipped badly after my move to KY. Emotional reasons: I cared for my ailing mother for two months until she died. Settling her estate. I have a new job. I had no internet to get on SparkPeople. BUT, now I'm ready to get serious again! 11/07/08

All of the above was true, but it is now March 2011 and I'm still where I started. I am thankful to have held my ground, but I want more (or, er, less, lol.) I continue to mild and infrequent bouts with depression and now also struggle with diabetes. HELP!!!

My Goals:
I am trying to recover from a divorce and subsequent weight gain of 78 pounds. I want to reclaim my energy and activity level from four years ago.


My Program:
I had joined a gym where I worked out 4-5 days a week. Then I moved to rural Kentucky and the only gym is a mom and pop operation. I travel too much for this to be a real help. I also cycle, walk, golf (but not as much as I should.) I work out at home 5-6 days a week when I'm not traveling. I am anxious to begin kayaking and other outdoor pursuits.

I have quit using the WeightWatchers and SparkPeople programs to track my foods and now record everything on my iPhone. However, I am very inconsistent. Partly it is a motivation thing and partly it is really hard to track foods in India.



Personal Information:
I'm from Kentucky originally, but have lived in seven different states. I left California and moved back to KY in June '08. I now work with India Missions and spend three to four months in India each year.

Other Information:
I supported myself as a psychologist for about 20 years while working in ministry.

    The scale can be your enemy. You get up in the morning and step onto the scale. (You always weigh yourself in the morning because that way you haven't had a chance to eat in seven or eight hours.) One of three things has happened: you've gained weight, you've lost weight, or you've stayed the same. If you've lost weight, you're ahead of the game and can afford to cheat a little. BUT CAN YOU REALLY... IS THIS WHAT YOU REALLY WANT? If you've gained weight, you may feel angry or depressed, especially if you were "good" yesterday. SO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TODAY TO CHANGE YOUR NUMBERS TOMORROW? And if you stayed the same, it looks as if you have been given free reign to do nothing. ARE YOU GOING TO SIT THERE AND DO NOTHING?

    What are you willing to do TODAY to make the scale move in the direction you want it to move consistently for the next week?

    How wonderful to see you have been a SPARKER for one year!!!! Do you realize how many others who joined when you did gave up and quit. WHAT an accomplishment to have loved yourself and come so far!! emoticon
