God brought me to this place... he wants me to be healthy... not to prove that I can do it, but to show that through Him I can do anything, even beat temptation to sit around and eat unhealthy foods; depression and Emotional Eating. He can do it in me, and I can be the healthy woman he made me to be.

MY BREATH PRAYERS: "Bread of life, be LORD over my eating." "Lord of the Dance, inspire me to MOVE!" "Faithful God, provide a way out from temptation".

I'm using this space to collect as many bible verses and passages to inspire me to keep healthy as I can and to give me strength for the journey. If you can think of any more, please suggest them in my comments! Also, feel free to make use of these in your own journey!

Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
(1 John 3:2 ESV)

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
(Ephesians 6:12 ESV)

Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let's not let it slip through our fingers. We don't have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He's been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let's walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.
(Hebrews 4:15 - THE MESSAGE)

I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. 1 Corinthians 6:19.

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
(John 15:5 ESV)

Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
(Isaiah 43:19 ESV)

The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
(Revelation 3:21 ESV)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
(2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)

The LORD your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
(Zephaniah 3:17 ESV)

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
(Ephesians 6:10 ESV)

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
(1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV)

 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
(2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV)

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." -- 1 Corinthians 10:13

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” from a Nelson Mandela speech, by Marianne Williamson

    No, haven't heard of his book. I read your blog about what you have read so far. Some good points there. Not into psycology though. Too much mind stuff for me. But, understanding why we eat (overeat or eat the wrong stuff) is important so that we can break that cycle. Guess I feel like I will always struggle with my weight. I will reach my goals, but I know that it won't be easy all the time. I keep thinking of the verse, "Let your moderation be known" which kind of sums it up for me.

    Saw your page through Christy's page. When you mentioned stones, I knew where you lived.
    So, you grew up as an MK? We are Missionaries in Germany. We've been here almost 13 years and raised 6 MK's!
    Wishing you many blessings on your journey.

    I really like your messages, and I'm looking up a few of the scriptures now. Not to deal with weight issues, but to help me to stay strong on other fronts. It's all connected though, because as I worry about things, I become anxious and stressed, and of course this leads to more eating. Anyway, thanks so much for an inspiring page. emoticon
