    HI!
    Here's some tips.
    1. set small, doable goals. You're main objective needs to be simply creating healthy habits.
Maybe some of these - log in to sparkpeople daily, try a sparkrecipe 1xWeek, log your food __ times per week, drink your water, add 1 group of healthy food to your plan for this week (more veggies, fruit, etc),
    2. Use sparkpoints. Think of it almost like a video game, the more points you get, the more you get to move up a level... and in this game, you always win! If you look at the things you get sparkpoints for, they're fun and easy... but under all that, it's things that will teach you HOW ot have a healthy lifestyle, motivate you and allow you to reach out to others, help you track and celebrate your journey. Those are huge! I still use the sparkpoints as my launchpad for the whole site.
    3. Break your overall goal into small pieces, it can get so overwhelming, otherwise. I have 140lbs to lose, and it used to get REALLY overwhelming, and I start rationalizing crazy things, like what's 1more lb out of 140... that's silly. I had to break my journey into smaller pieces, for me it's 10lbs... some do 5lbs, whatever helps you. Then you're just working on small steps, not losing the overall number.
    4. Be nice to yourself. Learning a healthy lifestyle is like any other learning process... there's going to be mistakes you learn from as well. Don't let that derail you. Face it, and see if you can figure out why, but don't spend too much time here. Forgive yourself. Make a plan, if you know why, then put things in place to make that not so much of a pull. For me, I KNOW that if I don't get enough protein, I'm more likely to crave and eat crazy stuff. When I was able to figure that out, I'm much more successful. :D
    5. Realize you're worth it. You're worht the time, the energy, the learning, the choices, ... whatever. Your'e worth the decision to chose life, and health. This helps me a lot, cuz I realize I'm worth more than an m&m, so I don't have ot chose that over me. I'm worth more than a piece of pizza, and my value doesnt have to be sacrifised or medicated by a simple food.
    6. SPARKTEAMS - Omgoodness, these are HUGE for me. I can find people who have teh same journey as me. People who not only relate, but are successful in their journeys, AND then I can see that it really IS doable.
    7. In a few weeks, make some goals of what you want your journey to be like and look like. One of my sparkteams gave this challenge, since we all had over 100lbs to lose, to come up with with 100health goals. At first it was overwhelming, but as I made my goals, I kept asking myself these questions - if my health wasn't a battle, what would i be like? look like? do? From these, the goals became much easier... and I broke things down into small steps. I have to be able to walk for 10min straight before i can ever consider walking in a 2k, for example. For me, doing this... something clicked, and I saw that my journey IS indeed doable, I just need small steps, like pretty much everything else in life.
I hope you enjoy the site, and Im sooo glad your'e excited. If you ever want to sparkmail, or need anything. Please, Let me know.
God bless you, and I wish you well on your journey. :D
