2013 will be the year I actually do it. I will actually take control of my life and get healthy. Let's face it - I ain't gettin' any younger.

Step One in taking control was to QUIT SMOKING! I smoked my last cigarette on January 4, 2013, and I don't plan to smoke another one. After six weeks spent focusing on conquering my nicotine addiction, I am ready to move on to Step Two:

LOSE WEIGHT. I was able to conquer cigarettes, so I should be able to conquer anything! But why can't I conqer food? And why can't I conquer laziness? I am determined to finally do those things, and I believe I can actually do it. Here's my plan:

* Make a conscious decision to get healthy.
* Continue working in therapy to get to the bottom of the issues that cause my overeating.
* Work the SparkPeople program to get motivated and stay motivated.
* Reward myself for success and forgive myself for failure.
* Be Active.

UPDATE: It is now June, and I am kicking A$$! I have lost 39 pounds so far, but that isn't even the most exciting part. I am so excited to be getting healthier and conquering fitness goals! I LOVE working out, and I don't feel deprived of food in any way, I have discovered a sustainable, healthy lifestyle, not some crash diet. I couldn't be happier!

My Goals:
Ultimately, I would love to lose 100 pounds. But a goal like that is still too intimidating for me. So, my current goal is to lose 50 pounds by August 31, 2013. That breaks down to 8.5 pounds a month for the next six months, or about 2 pounds per week.

My Program:
I have been sparking daily since February, and it's working great. In addition to using the website for coaching, motivation & calorie-counting, I have also been exercising daily! I am hitting the gym hard, 5-7 days a week and loving (almost) every minute! I have started to crave endorphins - how cool is that?

I have decided to set 2 HUGE fitness goals that will take me at least a year to achieve. I want to run a 5K in under 35 minutes, and I want to do 100 Standard Push-Ups. There will be many, many smaller goals along the way, but I am excited to be working toward something big!
