Hi, my name is Jess. I'm a very busy stay at home mom to my 3 little boys. I guess I will just go ahead and share some of my story with you...
I've had a very distorted view on what "healthy" is for a long time now. It started when I was younger, and it has been something I've really had to fight with myself about for a long time now. I was always on the thinner side of normal, though not healthy at all, until I went on a medication my senior year in high school. I went from my size 6 jeans to practically bursting out of size 16s in 5 mths. It was devastating. I was taken off the medication, but I've not ever been able to get the weight all the way off. I have been battling with depression/anxiety for a long time now on top of all that, and I definitely self soothe through food. Now that I have the realization of that, I really hope that I can move through and break out of that disasterous cycle. I love exercising and always feel much better after I get a workout in, so my plan of attack is just to make sure to exercise when I'm feeling bad instead of stuffing my face with all the junk that clogs up my arteries ;).
The past year has been particularly difficult for me. I think everything that has happened in my life, that I've been internalizing instead of dealing with, just sort of broke through and I've no choice but to deal with it all. I went through several extremely dark and difficult times last year, but despite it all, I have come out a lot stronger than I was.
My personal goals for this year are: to be much more positive, which I've been working on and am happy to say have really come a far way in that part of my life :). Also, to get healthy, which I am in the process of doing now. To learn how to play the guitar. (No laughing. Yes, I'm in my late 20s, a mother of three, AND a wannabe rock star ;).) And just to finish what I start.
I know that I will achieve my goals. I've already started my journey and am not going to give up, because that would be giving up on myself. I'm changing my life and becoming the person I've always wanted to be!

*Learn how to play the guitar (not a weightloss goal obviously, but a personal one of mine.)

    Well as for sugar substitues, the best thing is to try and stay away from sugar. But if you absolutely can't try honey! I am not the best person to ask this question, because I love Sweets! I just try to eat them in moderation.
