My name is Janice (alias Granie Janie to my grand children) I will be 65 in August of 2009.
I have three wonderful daughters who are married and have given me three great sons-in-law and 8 super grandchildren.

My #1 hobby is GENEALOGY, I have found some very intersting facts about my ancestors. I love Master Piece Theater, Gardening, and reading Historical Romance novels.

I have learned over the years that I have an "All or Nothing mind set " if everything is not working perfectly then I want to give up. Which Is what I did many times, not only with losing weight but other projects I would start!! "Oh well, I had a bad day I'm not going to make it happen so might as well give up." I am reminded of Dr. Phil when he says "Hows that working for you?" NOT!!

1985 I lost down to 198 lbs, Yea!! I was under 200 but that didn't last . Any way, over the years my weight went up and down until I reached my highest weight of 338. I was to the point of being afraid to start a "diet" and lose any weight just to quit and gain it back plus more. I didn't trust myself.

I was diagonised with type 2 diabetes in May 2007 and decided to work on controling my blood sugar with diet and exercise. I am proud to say I lost 70 lbs, by changing my eating habits and following the diabete guidelines for diet. I knew it could work but I never got around to starting an exercise program.
BUTTTT!!!! then I fell off the wagon between October 2008 and MAY 2009, gained 20lbs. I knew I was gaining but had some how lost my motavation. I was mindlessly eating what ever I wanted, being very self indulgant, now that is just plain crazy considering I had dibeties.

When I came home from a check up on May 1st after finding out that 10 of those 20lbs were gained from Feb to May, I knew I had to do something because I was not going to gain that weight back again!!!

I got on the computer did a search for free meal planing and found SparkPeople. That was my lucky day!! SparkPeople has everything I have been searching for in a website that helps with motavation, tracking weight and exercise.

I feel I will get the support and encouragement I need from SparkPeople.

4. Plan healthy menus 1x a week
5. Find something positive that I like about about myself each day.

I track my fitness everyday
I stay motovated By responding to others

I enjoy shopping with my best friend.

    Well, another month has come to a close; were you happy with September's progress?
