    Go go go. Training for your first race is great. My first race was 4 miles and I had never urn more than 3.1 at one time before - so my advice to you is just keep training and don't worry too much about it. Then in the race - pace yourself. Think of that first few minutes as your warm up (um, but actually do warm up before hand).
