I'm a determined, driven, goal oriented, 26 year old. I am passionate about health and fitness and love motivating myself and others to achieve goals. I feel I have completly transformed my outlook on life these past few years, both physically and mentally, and I feel compelled to share what I have learned with others.


I started by weighing 220 pounds in July of 2007, and lost my first 46 pounds on my own before joining sparkpeople at 174 pounds. What has helped me the most is to have a routine that I stick to on a consistent basis. This means scheduling in my weekly runs like they are appointments and planning my meals the day before, and tracking all foods taken in.

Through this transformation I am so excited to say that I have become a runner, and I never thought in a million years that I would say that. I thought I couldn't run because of my health conditions. For me running has made me a better person who is very confident and strong. .I am very thankful for the sport!

I think I gained the weight in the first place because I have had to overcome and deal with a lot of health issues like Fibromyalgia, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Anxiety, & GERD (acid reflux); and was in a fog for a few years from taking all kinds of meds. I can honestly say I have control of my pain now it doesn't control me anymore. I am finally off all the meds.

For as long as I can remember I have dreamed of being a mother but didn't want to get pregnant until I reached a healthy weight. I feel my goal weight is now within reach and am looking forward to having a healthy pregnancy soon, and making my husband a daddy.

Thank you spark, and all my friends for providing me the support and the information I needed to help me break through my plateau, and for sparking me to stick with it.

*Update* October 2008
I am pleased to announce my husband and I are currently 4.5 months pregnant with our first baby. I am determined to have a healthy pregnancy, so I can continue on my weightloss journey after I give birth.

*Update* May 2009
I am a mommy now!!! Our son, Asher Elijah was born March 24, 2009 weighing 7 pounds 9 oz. I love being a mommy, and I continue to be determined more than ever to make healthy choices for myself and my family. I am back running 8 weeks postpartum. I am training for a half marathon coming up this fall. The big day will be 6 months postpartum. I ended up with gestational diabetes while pregnant and gained 50 pounds. I had to eat healthy to manage the diabetes and I stayed active throughout the whole experience. My last yoga class was 2 days before giving birth. I am now blessed with a happy, very healthy baby boy. I have to get this baby weight off to decrease my chances of getting the diabetes back. It was not fun dealing with it, and I feel for those of you who do deal with it on a daily basis. So I am starting out again at 202 pounds. My goal is to weigh 140 pounds by my son's first birthday. I am going to do it slowly as I will hopefully continue to breastfeed until then since it is finally going so well!

My Goals:
Run Bellingham Bay half marathon Sept. 27, 2009

Run Whidbey Island half Marathon
(completed on April 13, 2008 in 2:17)

Run Seafair Full Marathon (completed on June 29, 2008, in 92 degree weather!!! in 5:41)

Drink more water - at least 8 cups a day

Eat healthy & organic as much as possible

Motivate & inspire others

ab excercises

Excercise even if I don't feel like it that day

Remember to take my multi vitamins

Reach a healthy BMI within a year after giving birth.




My Program:
Run 4 times a week

Walk my dogs 3x a week

Stretching, weight training 2-3 times a week

Eat a low carb, low fat diet

My name is Heather. I'm 26, & happily married for 5.5 years, a new mommy, living in the Pacific NW, have two dogs, a Boston Terrier; and a Bugg. I love to read novels. I'm a wife, a mommy, a runner, a friend, a sister, and a daughter.


Other Information:
Running is cheaper than therapy.

You can do anything you put your mind to.

    wow, running a half marathon 6 months post pardom! you are brave, you'll have to let me know how it goes.
    we are still BFing, it's awesome- i nursed Isaac till he was 2 years old, then weaned upon getting pregnant. Moses i would really like to nurse till he's 2 as well, but he's not as into it as Izzy was, and i have gall bladder surgery later this summer so i don't know if i'll be able to nurse him while i'm down without his hurting me- we'll have to play it by ear i guess.
