Welcome to my Spark-Page! I'm glad you've decided to take the time to come visit with me. I've been on Spark People on & off for quite some time and know that the information, tracking and motivation I gain here definitely aides me on my journey.
I'm a 49 yr old, work-at-home Mom of 2 girls, Ages 17 & 14 yrs old, married for 21 years and struggled with eating healthy and exercising regularly most of my life. Lacking energy does not help with motivation. I had digestive issues ...
Welcome to my Spark-Page! I'm glad you've decided to take the time to come visit with me. I've been on Spark People on & off for quite some time and know that the information, tracking and motivation I gain here definitely aides me on my journey.
I'm a 49 yr old, work-at-home Mom of 2 girls, Ages 17 & 14 yrs old, married for 21 years and struggled with eating healthy and exercising regularly most of my life. Lacking energy does not help with motivation. I had digestive issues for the past 8 years ( I've NEVER had digestive issues in my entire life!) and was diagnosed as IBS...which was totally wrong. October 30, 2017 I went in for a scheduled laparoscopic hysterectomy and it turned into a 5 hour surgery because there was endometriosis everywhere. My fallopian tubes were as large as my intestines and I believe this is what was causing my digestive issues. Four days in the hospital, many months of healing, dealing with menopausal symptoms, and a weight gain of 15 lbs in 6 months.....all way too much for my 5'1 frame.
I'm going to try a low-carb diet and limit sugar. I plan to do more exercise, but differently than I have in the past. Yoga and Pilates are the recommendation from my gyn to start with and I will continue to do my elliptical & walking for cardio as well as lifting weights to gain muscle mass.
I know it was difficult for me to lose weight before (in my 30's and early 40's) but what I'm up against now is the ULTIMATE challenge.....menopause, lack of hormones and a non-existent metabolism. For me, this feels like the FINAL test. I have to do this for my body's joints, my well-being and to once again have some kind of self-esteem. Where I am now is approaching rock bottom and I don't like it one bit!!!
Eating healthier, exercising and focusing on my goals must be made a priority in my life . Motivation is a key factor for me, so I look to you, my Spark-mates for help in this area. I know I am responsible for getting FIT & LEAN....no one else can do it for me, however, I know that encouragement from others that are going through the same thing will help me along this journey.

I believe losing weight has a lot to do with your attitude and your mindset. When I am not focusing on what I want to accomplish and just 'let' myself eat whatever, that is how I end up out of control all over again.
