At 23 years old, I can comfortably say that for the majority of my life I was 30-40lbs overweight. It wasn't so long ago that I couldn't face this truth without tears or concern over my body image. My senior year in college, I decided I didn't want my 20s to be filled with theses insecurities or regrets and began running.

I was always a "couch potato" in high school, so even the thought of running seemed impossible but I kept at it and half a year into my running regimen, I was 30lbs lighter and completed my first 5k in about 36 minutes. It wasn't an easy journey; I fell off the wagon many times and sometimes lost weight for the wrong reason (e.g. trying to please someone else rather than for myself), but the process taught me to respect myself and love myself. Now, I want to finish what I started and most importantly--I'm doing this because I want this for myself!

My Goals:
My goal is to challenge myself to achieve one goal I never thought possible per year. 2011 was a monumental year for me; I studied abroad in Greece and started my first successful weight loss journey. In 2012, I kept the weight off and got into dental school.

My Program:
Watching Biggest Loser had a key in jump-starting my journey. If they could do it, so could I! Not to mention Jillian Michael's attitude spoke to me. So, I will be starting with the 30 Day Shred and some running. I've started it, but never finished--however, that's about to change! While I want to lose some weight, I also want to work on toning, so I'm going to be focusing on programs that combine toning and cardio.
