I'm in it for the long haul. Less worried about the number on the scale than I am with the way my clothes fit....and the number of miles I can run. Less worried about body inches than body image....because if I don't love ME right here, right now, then losing 5 pounds won't be fixing what's really wrong in my life!

Fitness is important. A healthy diet is important. But most important to me is equilibrium. I need a sustainable lifestyle that doesn't leave me feeling deprived! While I really enjoy active outdoorswomaning - running, biking, hiking, kayaking, climbing, etc. - I also enjoy a glass of wine (or two) in the evenings, dining out with friends without feeling guilty over the calories...and let's face it, at certain times of the month, chocolate is necessary.

My Goals:

I tend to think of my weight as a side effect of unhealthy choices - because when I live a healthy, balanced life, my weight is within healthy and normal ranges. But right now, I’m very unbalanced. I just finished a double master’s in Public Affairs and Water Resources Management. I grew in so many ways throughout four years of graduate school. Sadly, I gained about 15 lbs a year, not just my first year, so I now have about 60-65 pounds to lose. But now that I have time to plan and prepare meals, garden, and work out every day, it’s just a matter of time!

I have several very simple goals - but I forgive myself whenever life changes and I miss a step!
1. Be active! Exercise every day, even if all I can do is walk. ST to condition and build strength. Stretch - even if it's just for a few minutes, to keep my body healthy and pain-free!

2. Run - for fun! I've done a lot of longer races, but right now I I'm rebuilding my endurance. And more than anything, I want to remember why I s
