In order to make it around for my family, I must put me first. It has been a very long time.

My name is Letitia, but friends and family call me Tisha. I am 39 years old, a wife of 20 years, a mother of four- three grown and one that is 13, and a grandmother of 5 month old Ella. I teach high school English.

Last year I had an accident that left me in constant pain. The disk in my neck between c6 and c7 vertebrate was injured and left pressing on my spinal cord. I had immediate surgery to fuse the vertebrate. I still have full function, but deal with pain that I have never felt before. I believe that had I been in better shape, this would have never happened. As it was, I am the one that would love an iv of Diet Coke hooked up to me...I could live on that stuff and I believe that this contributed to my bones very brittle and weak.

For the past four years, I have weighed in at 333. This is not the weight my body wants to be. I maintained the weight with a steady diet of Hershey candy bars, fried convenience foods, high amounts of all food, and no exercise. This is not the way I want to live, but I was stuck. My husband woke up a few weeks ago and stated that he was going on a diet. He got up and went for a 3 mile bike ride, drank a ton of water and started to watch all of his carbs. He got our future son-in-law going with a bet that who ever lost the most amount of weight in the next three months will win a shotgun that they have all been drooling over for the past few years. It took a few days for me to realize that this was my time to do this. My daughter jumped on board, my sister-in-law, my niece and nephew, my brother-in-law...all those I see everyday are onboard and we are doing this. I have lost 10 pounds in the two weeks we have been working on it and need to lose 124 more to reach 200 pound weight loss. I have found workouts that work for my neck and I am motivated beyond belief. I need to do this for me and for my family. My first grandchild Ella was born in Dec. She needs her Grandmother around for a long time...and my family needs me to be here for a long time. It is time to put me first.

My Program:
I need to start from the beginning:

1: Track all foods eaten and stay within 1500-1900 calories daily.

2: Exercise for 30 minutes five days a week

3: Drink 8- 8 oz glasses of water everyday and stay away from any form of soda.

4: Get the right amount of sleep for me.

5: Remain possitive.

    Dear Tisha!

    I'm feeling much better since I've been eating much more. I was geting so tired and not losing any weight. So another friend, Shelly, reccommended I eat more. I'm doubling up on my porridge and all other foods. I'm no longer eating chocolate since I have no interest in it. I am constantly full and satisfied. So I'll see if this has a change in my weight loss.

    Eating smaller meals 5 times a day didn't work, eating 1500 calories didn't work for me. So I'm back to eating 3 main meals a day and loving it. lol!

    I'm so pleased you had a lovely weekend. You so deserve it. Thank you for being such a sweet friend to me and for encouraging me along the way.

    I ended up going for a 15 mile run on my own on Sunday at a leisurely pace. It was the best day ever and truly felt like Spring time. It was cold but the sun was out. Little birds kept singing in the trees and I became lost in my thoughts. It was great!

    Last night I ran another 4.7 miles and managed to keep up with the fast ones in the club. That was good. I managed to run at 8.3 minute miles for part of the way.

    It's college tonight so I'll do some Tae Bo this afternoon when I get back from work and then have a bath/shower. Take care sweetie and keep me up to date.

    Hey Tisha!

    It's lovely to hear from you. Congratulations on all your walking. You are doing so well. It's good to keep moving, not that I've had much energy for that this week. Who knows? Perhaps it's the time of the month. I've been off the pill for 2 months now so it might have something to do with that!

    I forced myself to do some tae bo last night and this morning. Tomorrow I plan to go on a long run to get rid of the cobwebs building up. I hope to try and establish a routine in the week where I am still exercising. Sometimes I spend my time wasting it on the computer so I will have to be stricker with myself and not go inernet surfing all day long. lol!

    My son is doing well once more. The incident is over and sorted now. Time to move on yet again. Bles him. He's been totally sweet this weekend. My daughter is on a sleepover tonight and huby is working, so it's just me and Tom here. Hoperfully we;ll put on a video soon but I have a feeling I'll just go to sleep halfway through - that's my speciality. I can't keep up with them.

    Have a beautiful birthday tomorrow and totally enjoy yourself. You deserve it. I hope your children spoil you.
