This is me in July of 2009. In 2006, I lost 72 pounds in 9 months. I went from a size 16/18, XXL to a S/M 8/10. It is now 2010 and in 4 years I have gained about 15 pounds back, some of which is muscle after having worked out with a trainer for 3 months.

My Goals:
I would like to lose atleast 15 pounds and tone by the 1st of the year; although my friends say I cannot lose that much. LOL!! . Yes, my clothes still fit even with the , but I would like to be a little more toned; if that is correct. LOL!!

My Program:
I am starting all over again on November 1, as I have had some surgeries and I will do the same regiment I have before which is either walking 4 miles a day or using the elliptical for 30 minutes 4x week plus , 15 mins of abs 4x a week and weight training 3x a week.

My caloric intake is about 1000 calories a day which I realize is not enough, but it works for me.

I eat healthy; fruits, veggies, fish and chicken.

I do not eat beef, pork, fried foods, dairy (butter, milk or cheese), pasta, white potatoes or ANY bread. My diet is low sodium, low fat and lots protein.

I prepare all my own salads and meals. I rarely eat out because the food makes me sick; even when I inform them of how I would like the food prepared. You can't control it and my body will react.

I quit smoking in 2008; sometimes I snack on low salt potato chips or nutter butter crackers.

Personal Information:
My name is Patricia. I am originally from Connecticut, but currently live in Maryland.

I enjoy exercising, as I like how I look and feel. It is now a part of my lifestyle; like daily routine.

On 9.3 I had surgery on my foot and am unable to do any cardio. I am beginning to do my abs and work my biceps and triceps; but my body is used to so much more and needs more. I am making sure that I stick to my food regiment.

I am also in the process of starting my own cake business "Passionate About Cakes."

I enjoy cooking, baking, movies and just life itself.

Other Information:
Since losing the 72 pounds and changing my lifestyle of eating and exercising, I believe you should "eat from the farm and not from the factory." I believe in "eating to live and not living to eat."

    In my experience, SparkPeople is like a emoticon in some ways - it's lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized - it's about waaaaaay more than 'just' losing weight so you have definitely come to the right place!


    There are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site.


    If you haven't discovered The Spark book and/or the SparkDiet linked at the bottom of the START page, check them out - the program is simple but extremely effective. There is a TON of information on this site - so much it might even seem overwhelming but fortunately we don't have to 'digest' everything at once! The FastBreak program is a good way to start.


    Another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I do - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!

    You are looking fabulous! I am with you on the meals. I don't eat that many either. Just three a day. I eat a big breakfast which gives me lots of energy for the day, a light lunch and the lightest supper. I do snack at 4 pm, and have my supper later so I don't feel like snacking after it. I make sure I have enough protein at each meal to satisfy me (and stops the hunger cravings). 15-30g protein per meal and some fat and of course, carbohydrates. Well rounded meals is what gets your metabolism going. Salt free chips, okay, but can you get them baked? Less calories then. Cracker Jacks is bad news, that is just a calorie bomb!! Look it up on the nutrition Tracker and see for yourself..
    You may have to try unbuttered popcorn that is seasoned as a substitute. There are actually seasonings out there that remind you of salt!
    Try eating some veggies with your chips so you eat less of them. or premeasure out what ever amount you can afford calorie wise for the day and stick to it. Tracking everything you eat is so the key to being successful. You can eat almost anything as long as you stay in your calorie range. reducing portions is a key to still enjoying your favorites but watching the calories.
    I lost 87 lbs with Spark and I attribute it to good exercise and watching my calories, carefully weighing and measuring everything I eat as guessing is too easy to go over.
