I have always been an energenic, spontaneous, fun-loving person...until I managed to pack on 165 extra pounds. I gained it slowly and it crept up on me. I tried to be happy with myself in between various diet 'ups and downs'. I never learned to eat differently and I always ended up a higher weight than before.

In January 2006, I discovered SparkPeople. My life will never be the same. ( Thank goodness! )
I am now getting back the part of me that I love...and shedding the bad habits, the negative attitudes and the unhealthy pounds that were killing me (literally).

With this gradual weight loss, I see that I will lose some weeks, and stay the same on other weeks...but it is all adding up to pounds lost. With each mini goal of ten pounds lost, I experience profound differences in how I feel. With every twenty pounds, almost a whole dress size.

I have to thank SparkPeople, my family, and my 'Posse' (you BG's) and 'Power of Seven' for traveling with me to our goals.

UPDATE: August 2006- I get to brag now...my husband reached his goal at the end of July 2006. SparkPeople has told his 'story' under "Patrick" under 'Success Stories'.

I am looking forward to joining him there in the future.

UPDATE: I slid into some bad habits, and started sliding up the scale again. I started to get that old feeling of feeling castrophobic in my own body. NOT ok. So, I decided to work with mini goals, and be perfectly happy with gradual weight loss of a pound a week.

My Goals:
I want to be alive for as long as possible. I love life, I love my family and I want to be here on this green earth for years to come.

I want to ride a horse again. I want to ride my bike with ease and I want to feel my hair blowing in the wind. My goal is 150. Then "I''m gonna go buy me a pair of chaps".

My Program:
1. Logging in everything I eat has taught me SO much. (It''s KEY, I am convinced)

2. I''m am keeping my kitchen successful with more planning. Bad stuff out, and a clean refrigerator with enough healthy choices.

3. I eat often now. A good breakfast (which I never used to eat) and I include two ''nutrient dense'' snacks a day. I have WAY more energy.

4. 7-11-11
I now realize that just getting out for a walk, is important to start immediately...it's just too easy to not 'move'. Keep it simple and it will build upon itself.

Personal Information:
I live in Colorado. I am married with grown children and four grandchildren.

Our whole family has been losing weight together.
Our family total weight loss is -250 pounds so far.
7-11-11 It's been up and down...we're focusing on health again.
Health. plain and simple.
