July 27th, 2007- I SNAPPED! I had reached my highest weight (271 lbs) and I was sick of being fat. It was then that I made the commitment to change my life. Over the next two years I lost 136 lbs and am maintaining my weight loss well today. I do struggle with gaining and losing those last 10-15 lbs so my ultimate goal is to continue to make wise decisions in how I treat my body and soul. I work hard to stay active and eat healthy. I try to use moderation with all foods that I love.

I just ultimately want to feel healthy, comfortable, and at peace within myself and in this world. I've had a lot of ups and downs during this entire process of losing weight, and I feel like I'm a stronger person because of the challenges I have faced. But I have a challenge ahead. It's been 5 years since I went on that first real "I'm going to do this" diet. And now I have to learn to live a healthy life and keep the weight off forever. I'm looking ahead and anticipating more challenges. I'm here on Sparkpeople because I know I'll find the help, support, and encouragement that I need to keep this journey going.

My main goal is overall health and peace (and thighs that don't rub together when I walk). I hope to achieve this by being consistently active and making wise decisions about the foods and portions that I eat.

    You have done so well. I am now seeing changes to my body that are affecting my sleep and pain that I didn't notice before. The pain in my hip is why I stopped working out. How did you start to lose the weight and then maintain it? emoticon

    Thank you thank you thank you for your before pictures! I am literally crying as I write this. Why? Because your before belly looks just like mine. I have had the hardest time looking in the mirror, because I never thought I would have my slender body back, especially after my doctor told me I wouldn't. But after seeing your photos I know there is hope. I know it's about health--but loving what you see in the mirror is a big help. Thank you so much for your story!
