2017 update. Spark Friends I miss you terribly. I never quite understood how people couldn't find the time to update their Sparkpages, food logs, etc when I was so active on SP, but now that it's been YEARS that I've been off, I find myself relating so much to this. Please join me on MyFitnessPal if you're on there (username = kristonibologna)... Right now that's about all I can muster, but I'm hoping to find more BALANCE this year.
Written January 2009 -- Ever since I can remember, I've never felt like the skinny girl. Even when I was nearly 100 lbs skinnier in high school, I felt like a cow compared to my thin friends. After gaining some weight towards the end of high school, I felt even worse. I lost about 15 lbs on weight watchers before I went to college, but when I met my beautiful and thin college roommate (who is still one of my best friends) over six years ago, it was what you might call another ego-crushing moment!

Why is it that people always need to compare themselves to others? I suppose it is only human nature. In six years I have gained ~60 lbs and a lot more neuroses, but in some ways I couldn't be happier. I have a wonderful boyfriend, I live in one of the coolest cities in the world and I am alive! I joined this site to try to help myself change myself... not so I can look like a Hollywood celebrity, or even look like my best friend. From now on I am only going to compare myself to myself. Setting tangible, realistic goals, and only hoping to become a better me. Not a better somebody else.

    I was looking at your Sparkpeople pics and your captions, and I carry weight in my stomach too, so I feel you there! I sometimes wish I just had a big fat butt or something, I think that would be easier to deal with. I was at my heaviest when I met your brother in 2006, like 250lbs, and my midrift was huuuuuuuuge! talk about muffin top! I never want to see those days again.

    Hello and Welcome to Sparks. Congrats on making this step to getting healthy. You will find a lot of info here and there are many waiting to encourage you. Find teams that meet your needs then post every day. That will help you stay accountable. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed here. It will take a couple of weeks before you really feel like you know what your doing. If you have questions please ask. All of us were new once and had to ask ourselves. And do not ever give up.
