    "Portrait of a Friend"

I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts,
or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will
    search for answers.

I can't change your past with all it's heartache and pain,
nor the future with its untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can't keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.

    Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

    Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship,
    from your values, from me.
I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you.

I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
    room to be yourself.

I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can't tell you who you are.
I can only love you and be your friend.

I hope you know how much your friendship means to me; thanks for the advice, support and laughs you've sent my way. Best wishes throughout your journey and I hope you're having an AWESOME day= ) As always, sending ((((Positive and Skinny Vibes)))) your way, my friend!!!

The following is a popular version of the Girl Scouts Motto:

1.) "Make new friends and keep the old, one is silver and the other gold."

2.) "Make new friends, both young and old, one in Silver, the other Gold."

3.) "Make new friends but keep the old, some are silver and others are Gold."

4.) "I have a hand, and you have another; put them together and we have each other."

"Friendship with oneself is all-important because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else in the world."~Eleanor Roosevelt

"If you judge people, you have no time to love them."~Mother Teresa

"The most I can do for my friend is simply to be his friend. I have no wealth to bestow on him. If he knows that I am happy in loving him, he will want no other reward. Is not friendship divine in this?"~Henry David Thoreau

I hope you're in good health and feeling Spark-a-licious, my friend= ) Sending ((((Positive and Skinny Vibes)))) your way, today and always!!! Remember: you're never alone when you have a Spark friend emoticon

Wow, Liz, what a great question! I've got a 'kind of' list of Things To Do Before I Die (I want to see Easter Island for real... want to become proficient at yoga... want to learn to draw...). There are things I say I would do if I ever hit the lottery (find the perfect retirement home on a coast somewhere, waterfront... fly first class EVERYwhere, lol). There are things I want to do that are a bit more down-to-earth (I'd like to take a cruise, I'd like to go back to school and actually achieve a degree of some kind). What single goal would I want, what would mean the most, what would make me feel as tho I had really accomplished something--? Writing a book. Well, writing a book and having it accepted for publication. Yeh, THAT would make me feel as if I had accomplished something, fer sher. Doesn't have to be a best-seller or popular or on The NY Times list or Oprah's Club or something - just to have it written and printed.

And the thing is, I know - deep down - that I CAN do this, IF (ah, there's the crucial word, ain't?) I actually buckle down and work at it.

...and from this side of things (not having written a single word yet, lol) I think the carnival in Venice looks like a lot more fun! :-D

Well, another month has come to a close; were you happy with September's progress? Let's start October with a emoticon and go back to the basics: write down your goals and rewards; keep a food log; commit to daily exercise; stay hydrated; record your measurements (along with your weight); continue to Spark and start a journal. You'll be amazed with the results= )

As always, sending ((((Positive and Skinny Vibes)))) your way, my friend!!!

"A friend is one who knows you and loves you just the same."~Elbert Hubbard

"Some days there won't be a song in your heart. Sing any way."~Emory Austin

"When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps."~Confucius

"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort."~Herm Albright

    Hi Liz,
The personal training session was great.. it was only 30 minutes free session but I felt like I had worked seriously hard by the end! My problem is not that I don't work hard in the gym.. it's actually getting there so making an appointment with a trainer every week would force me through the door! Unfortunately when she handed me the price list at the end of the session I won't be able to afford to pay for further sessions.. £300 for 10 sessions (not sure what that is in dollars.. but is loads when I already pay for the gym every month). Have decided to go to more classes.. which are included in my membership.. where you still have someone to yell at you to work harder!!
