March 2019: It's been awhile. I finally got my back/hip injury addressed after seeing a chiropractor. I keep telling myself "I'll soon be able to workout like I used to and I'll lose this weight that has crept back on" It's been about 6 months and I'm still telling myself that! Let's just say I'm feeling my age (and my genes - arthritis). I still want to lose weight, I still want to get leaner but I realize I won't be able to do that by lifting heavy or working out as intensely as I used to. Now I have to be smarter and pay more attention to my diet which also has a big impact on my arthritis. I'm still hopeful, I'm still determined and in the big picture all is good.

August 2017 Finally, after more than a year I'm able to do my challenging workouts - not quite like I used to do, but so much better than 6 months ago. I'm able to HIIT and goblet squats and box jumps. Yay! And now my weight is coming back down nicely. I'm hoping to get leaner, as I get stronger that should also take care of itself. I'm dabbling with "The Metabolism Plan" diet. A lot of work! I did lose 6 lbs in 2 weeks but I'm not quite sure I can maintain this diet. I'm going to start to tweaking it to get more protein in.

Jan 2017 - I'm back! 2016 turned out to be a challenging year for me. I had a couple of injuries and I just couldn't bounce back. And I fell off the wagon and my weight is up. I'm am trying to get back into my healthy habits, logging and getting back into Spark will help me. I'm still not 100% with my injuries but that is not the problem. I can still do quite a bit at the gym. My problem is that I'm giving in to my sabotaging thoughts and overeating or making unhealthy choices. I have some work to do. I can do it. I know what I have to do. Here we go!

Jan 2016 - Will this be the year? I still have my goal to get to 125lbs. My trainer and friends say I don't need to lose any more weight but they don't see me naked!! I still have some flab to lose. I don't really care about the weight so much as getting firmer legs. But at my age, it's tough to reverse 40 years of baggage. But I'll keep trying. First I need to start with losing the holiday weight gain - as I was a little bit looser with my sabotaging thoughts and gave in more often than I normally would. So here we go!

March 2015 Update: I had a personal goal to get to 135 before my annual Cabo vacation and I did it! And, I recently had my body fat measured using the hydrostatic water displacement method - so should be very accurate - 23.07%!! I'm glad to know that my new home scale measurement, for the most part, in line with these results. I'll probably gain some weight and fat while on vacation but I know it will take care of itself as soon as I get back into my regular routine. Meanwhile I'm still working on my legs and booty. Making progress, slowly but surely.

Jan 2015, got a new scale that measures my BF at 27%. I want to try and get down to 25. My weight after the holidays crept back up to 140 - as expected this time of the year. Looking forward to renewing my commitment to lose a few more lbs, get leaner and stay that way!

Update - Since I started eating Paleo/Primal (late June 2014), my weight is slowly moving down. And I can tell I'm getting leaner. Yay!

May 2014....I guess I'm officially in maintenance. My weight has not gone down much since my 30 lb weight loss from Nov 2012 to Nov 2013. I got down to as low as 137.5 but now I'm holding steady between 139 and 142. I'm ok with the weight. Check that - I'm ecstatic with the weight (after being overweight since the third grade, I weigh less now than I ever did as an adult) I just need to lose the stubborn flab around my lower body. My legs have been heavy for 40 years, they are not going to get lean overnight. I'll get there, I just need to be patient. Here is my story: In Nov 2012 I started this final quest to get in shape and lose weight. I was tired of approaching the holiday season knowing that I was probably going to gain 10-15 lbs. A gain that I would then struggle to lose the rest of the year (and failing to do so as I got older!). No more! Thanks to the 3 things I give credit to below, I am at a new place! I am not afraid of the holidays. I know I will maintain decent control, but most important, I know I will get right back to my normal routine and no lasting harm done.
