Growing up I was always a tom-boy, sporty kind of kid and never really thought too much about my body or health. It always just came naturally.
Then at 21 I became pregnant with my first son and discovered what happens to your body! I gained 71lbs and felt horrible. Though due to my young metabolism, crazy schuedle of a first time mom and little time to eat junk I lost the majority of it in the first year. However, having lost most of my motivation to stay active (other than working 40-50 hours a week) my weight fluctuated over the next 4 years and I struggled with never having enough energy.
Then I became pregnant with my second son and the weight piled back on, 83lbs to be precise. At this point I weighed more than I ever had in my life and it took it's toll on not only my body, but my mind and relationships.
My second son being 3 years old now, we decided to have our third and final baby, another boy! However this time around I was hell bent on keeping my weight gain at a reasonable amount, hopefully making it easier to lose after. Especially considering I was still carrying a large amount on my small 5'4" frame. With moderate exercise and a healthier diet I managed to only gain 32lbs!!
However that still put my total weight well into the 200lb range. I'm sore and tired, but beyond determined to get healthy. Not just for the esthetic reasons (who doesn't want to look sexy?!) but for the benefits it will bring to mine and my family's life. Energy, happiness and stamina to keep up with my husband and 3 boys is reward enough :)
So feel free to follow my journey from frumpy mom to fit before thirty !
