Hello. My name is Dyanne.

I am the proud mom of 3 grown children (Brian, Trisha, and Shawn) and Nana to 8 gorgeous grandchildren. My grandchildren are my reason for breathing and becoming more healthy and living a long life. I have 5 granddaughters and 4 grandsons.

I have been widowed twice previously. My 2nd husband died of an overdose in 2002. My 3rd husband died from lung cancer in 2009

In 2008, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. In 2011, I was hospitalized 4 times with extremely high glucose readings (700 and higher).

In 2012, I opted to have weight loss surgery, after seeing a report on Good Morning America about gastric sleeve and gastric bypass being termed "the cure" for type 2 diabetes. After much research, I went to Mexico and had gastric sleeve surgery. It was a success. At the end of my 1st year post-op, I had lost 70 lbs and 8 pant sizes.

During my second year post op, my weight begun to creep up. 1 lb here, 1 lb there. I am a food addict. This is how it begins.

I workout nearly every day. 45-60 minutes on the elliptical trainer, or walking on the treadmill.

2017 Update: I met my goal weight of 120 in May 2016. However, I've gained back 30lbs. I still workout 3-5 times a week. My diet is back on track. Goal weight - here I Come!!

emoticon emoticon emoticon WELCOME TO SPARK!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.

    1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.

    2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.

The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family!
