I quit smoking Feb 7, 2006. (after losing 41 lbs) I gained ALL the weight I lost and then some. I am still not smoking, BUT I have not been able to lose anything since I quit smoking. It is now Jan 2010 and my sister has just been diagnosed with diabetes. I am making this public for her. She will be able to see my stuggles and follow my changes and know that I am doing this with her, even though I am across the country.

My Goals:
To become healthier. To have ALL of my numbers drop, not just the numbers on the scale. To change the way I eat AND think about food. My long-term goal is to "eat to live, not live to eat."

My Program:
At this moment, I am not on any particular program. I am concentrating on exercising, writing down EVERYTHING I ingest and all my workouts, eating low-fat and low-sodium foods. Last but not least, learning portion control.

Personal Information:
I am married to an Army soldier who is supposed to retire this year. We have been through 2 very long deployments. I have 2 children. One is married to a soldier herself. The other is about to go off to college.

Other Information:
I have back pain issues so my exercise is limited. My doctor told me, "if it starts to hurt...stop." I managed to find 3 workouts that work for me so far: water aerobics, recumbent bike, and Wii Fit. My exercises are lower intensity but I am trying to convince myself that "slow and steady wins the race." One day soon, I hope to actually believe that.
