Edit on 2-23-2011

I ended up getting promoted at work last August and unfortunately allowed myself to use this as an excuse to stop tracking my food and exercising regularly. I have been exercising but not as much or often as I need to. I lost about 40 pounds, and allowed little excuses to pile 15 back on.

It's the winter, so I can't go outside. I have an hour commute each way, it makes me too tired to exercise. I don't like the elliptical, it's boring. Oh, I'm too tired. It's the holidays . . . I can eat extra.

We all know the excuses. Who hasn't said those and 1000 more just like them time after time? It's time for me to not let excuses run my life! I need to take control!

Goals:

* Daily *
Track my food
Do something! Run, walk or some ST.

*Short Term *

Get back to running at least 5 miles 3 times/week.

*Medium Term*

Within the next 6-12 months be able to run a half marathon

* Long Term *

Be able to run a marathon within the next 2 years

Original Post:

I am going to turn 30 this July and I really don't want to live my 30's and beyond the way I lived my 20's. I have been as high as 280 and as low as 185 and everywhere in between. I have been in 42 size pants and 36 size pants (I could even squeeze into 34's at one point LOL) and everywhere in between. I just want to be able to be at a good weight, be able to fit into nice clothes (which means no gut, no man-boobs and no rubbing thighs) and to be able to stay that way for years instead of months!

I am really hopeful that SP can teach me how to live that life without all the ups and downs!

Edit on 8-6-2010:

So far I have lost 35 pounds, reduced a TON of body fat and gotten closer to a healthy waist to hip ratio!

Since joining Spark People I have started running, rejoined my fencing team and found a new appreciation for exercise as a FUN activity! I am really enjoying the teams that I am on and all the new people I am meeting in my journey!

    Hey, Buddy...We "kind of" have something in common. I was 221 pounds, and want to reduce down to 180. Seems like we, almost, have the same goal in mind. I'm 205 right now, and really feeling good. I do have to exercise more, and do more cardio exercises for longer periods of time...in order to continue losing weight.

    If you ever need any advice, I'll be here for you. If you'd like, subscribe to my blogs. I do write some things that you might be interested in, and may help you in your journey to success.

    Take care. I'll touch base with you later.
