January 2010: Well, another year is starting. I had a great 2009. I took of my extra weight & got to my lowest weight since getting married. I did this following Michael Thurmond's 6 week body makeover program. I even filmed an infomercial for his program last summer. I used SparkPeople to track my nutrition & exercise and to help me stay motivated. It was a wonderful "find" for me at the beginning of last year. I maintained my weight loss very well for most of the year and my weight actually continued to creep down until the fall. BUT, My weight began to creep up just a bit over the holidays, but I am happy to say that I didn't let that get out of control like in the past. I am nipping it in the bud, so to say! So, I've cleaned up my eating & ramped up my cardio. I've got a few pounds to lose & want to continue to tone & tighten my body! I've recently started using many of the Beachbody products for my fitness. I'm loving the variety of programs and how fun & effective they are! If you eat clean & do your cardio & toning, you will be successful. I must always remember that this is a lifestyle. If I want to keep my slim body, I can't go back to poor eating or exercise habits. That is something I continue to tell myself on a regular basis. As they say, nothing tastes better than being slim and loving the way you look & FEEL in your clothes! And let's not forget the health benefits of it too! Happy Sparking, friends.

January 2009: I am nearing 40 years old & have two young children. I live in Southwest Ohio & work full-time in addition to taking care of my family. I have been carefully watching what I eat for many years now, but seem to lose & then gain a bit back. I have trouble staying motivated. I either do awesome or fall off the wagon. I never really had too much trouble with my weight until after I had my kids. I think the lack of time for myself has led to poorer eating & exercise habits.

I found this web-site through my friends from another weight-loss board. I am here for something new & to keep myself accountable to eating a healthy diet & staying active with exercise. I need to get back on track now that we are in 2009 and the holiday's are past!

Here's hoping to being at goal by spring!!!

Fitness Minutes: 21,175

My Goals:
I need to get my cardio in at least 3 times per week.

I need to consistently do weight work/toning.

I need to not let weekend eating not negate all my hard work during the week.

I need to continue to get my water in daily.

I need to lose some holiday pounds & keep them off for good.

My Program:
Nutrition: I lost weight initially by doing the 6 Week Body Makeover by Michael Thurmond. I actually ended up in a infomercial for the program. I am still following that but a little more relaxed. I try to stay with 40/30/30 (Carbs, Protein & Fat).

I am currently doing many of the BeachBody programs. I am loving TurboJam & many of the Shaun T programs (Hip Hop Abs, Rockin' Body, etc.). I am trying to stay active. I also love doing Jillian Michael's programs. I just love it when I find great workout DVD's to add to my collection. Variety (& fun) is the key for me!

I recently purchased a Bodybugg to track total calorie expenditures, steps, etc. I am looking for it to improve my overall fitness goals & help me get to & stay at the weight I want. I think I will learn a lot about my body's needs & metabolism from using this.

Personal Information:
I live in Mason, Ohio. I am 39 & married with two kids (5 1/2 and 7 1/2). I work full-time, mostly from my home office. I take care of the family when not working. I have 4 dogs (3 of which are puppies). That in itself keeps me hopping!

    Hi Denise - thanks for stopping by my page! I have had my GWF since last September and I have probably only had it off about 7 days. Sometimes my arm gets tired of it so I give it a rest. I also have a HRM and I use it for running & spinning training. I use it to make sure I'm working out in the right range. It does have a higher calorie count than the bodybugg. I especially find that is true on machines like the step mill where I am working hard but moving slowly. I also wear my GWF on my calf during spinning otherwise it doesn't recognize it. I like the higher numbers too but my GWF has been pretty darn accurate if I compare my deficits to my weight loss that week (low deficits = low weight loss). I also have to make sure my nutrition is in balance - 40 to 50% carbs, 25-30% protein and healthy fat with low glycemic sugar. So you've been on yours for about a week - how is it going?

    Thanks for reading my blog. lol I am always really surprised that people actually read it!! :) Im glad you understand where I am coming from. I really want to make this a lifestyle change, so I am working hard at making it liveable. One of the reasons that I quit the first time is b/c I couldnt stand the thought of eating the same bland foods again! So this time I know that if I am going to make it, I have to find some creative ways to make stuff. Looks like you are doing pretty good, though
