My journey to a healthier me began on October 15, 2007 when I decided to take up running. We'll see how it turns out.

I am lucky enough to have been married for almost 5 years now and also the father of 2 incredible munchkins. I figure if I want to keep the lucky streak going, I had better lose some weight and try to avoid the family history of heart attacks in the mid-40s and diabetes.

As of:
*** 7/23/09: Despite a weekend at my in-laws (where food self-control seems to be at a minimum) and an unfortunate incident with Chinese takeout last night, I am still down another pound (that's 6.5 since I resumed SP). Just have to keep up the running!

*** 7/14/09: Look, an update in less than a year! Since I got back on track last week, I'm down about 5 pounds and well on my way. Still haven't gotten back into the running - but it's coming!

*** 7/6/09: Wow... no updates here in over a year. It's amazing that I've gained back only 20 of the 35 pounds I had lost at one point. So, here I am again in need of "re-graduating" from the Couch To 5K program and getting back to tracking all of my food so that I stick to my program. Away I go!

*** 4/1/08: Between Christmas and our daughter's birth, I let myself fall off the wagon. Not too much damage done (gained back about 7 pounds), thankfully. But I'm getting back on track! Still down (as of this morning) 33 pounds from my start weight - I'll take it!

*** 1/17/08: Today, we welcomed a new addition to our family - a bouncing baby girl!

*** 11/30/07: In a month and a half as a SP member, I have lost nearly 20 pounds and have worked up to W3 in the c25k program (illness set me back in the exercise department for a good bit of November.)

Fitness Minutes: 1,145

My Goals:
Complete the Couch to 5K program (again)

Complete a 5k in the spring of '11.

Complete a Half Marathon in fall of '11.

Go from a starting weight of 225 to a healthy weight of about 170 by October of 2011.


My Program:
I am tracking my food to make sure I fall within SparkPeople's recommended calorie range.

I am drinking at least 8 cups of water a day.

I am a C25K graduate, but months on the couch leave me in need of going through the program again.

    getting back on track is half the battle, you are going to win the war! It took all your life to learn how to eat whatever you want, now you are i nthe learning to live healthy stage. Hope you make that your last "diet", liveing a fit life!
