Hello SparkPeople,
Dan here. I signed up here back in 2005, but I guess I wasn't ready so I just kept looking past this place. Finally in 2008 I got all the way up to 407 lbs. It was when I got back from visiting a girlfriend in Hawaii and when I saw the pictures of myself I finally realized just how overweight and miserable I really was. I mean I felt really awful, had gout pain, chest pain, and couldn't move without serious pain and being out of breath. So I started taking strides to change all that.
I got started losing weight a few years back by joining a local fitness challenge which helped me to get started and make the intial push to start making it happen. But I still hadn't really checked out Sparkpeople. I got down around 125 lbs and I then had some real personal setbacks with relationships and the death of my Dad and some of the weight came back. It has been a real battle, but I don't want to backslide any further so that's why I'm here. Forward movements from only here on in. I have signed up again for the weight loss challenge this year to get me started pushing forward but ultimately I know I have to make a plan to keep me motivated. Then I remembered SPARKPEOPLE! So, here I am.
Currently I'm weighing in at 318(9/27/12) and headed down. I'm here to support and be supported. God knows we all need help, or at least I know I do. I am a avid bodyboarder (boogie board rider) with over 27 years at it and I love the ocean and being in it. Big waves are fun to ride, just like your own personal rollercoaster. But being obese really restricts me in all kinds of situations. I know losing more weight is going to help every part of me and my surfing is bound to improve and push some limits too. Who knows maybe I can go to Pipeline, or some other real heavy surf spot. I already know I can surf those places, but being even more fit will only help me. I already feel so much better having lost some, but ultimately I look forward to the day I get down to under 250 lbs and go from 3xl to xl.

My Goals:
My biggest personal goal is to get down to 225 lbs. I know it is possible but it seems miles away. And on a treadmill, it most definitely is. Ultimately love, happiness, and personal fullfillment are the biggest goals of all. And maybe riding some big waves while I am still young and able to.

My Program:
Currently I am working out about an hour or more daily. Besides that I am a rider of waves so that factors into my exercise a little too. I usually do about 10 mins on a treadmill to warm up, 20 mins on the stairmaster, 20 mins on the moonwalker ellipitcal, 20-30 on the regular elliptcal then swim laps. I also lift weights at home I have a dumbells from 5 lbs up to 55 lbs each. Also have a large fitness ball. I try to eat super clean and green. Green juice, raw vegs, fruit smoothies, water with lemon, natural fats like avocado and coconut oil.
