Hello, my name is Pamela. I'm 60 years old, and I live in Tucson, Arizona. I'm an "empty nester" with two grown children, one grandchild, one dog, and three cats. I try to lead a healthy and well-balance life. I enjoy walking, swimming, yoga, and cycling.

After I turned 40, I started steadily gaining weight, even though I had never been overweight in my life. I gained about 50 pounds during this time-- due to stress, sedintary lifestyle, and menopause. In 2001, I made a committment to change my lifestyle habits. This has led to gradual weight loss, muscle gain, and increased vitality. I'm in better physical shape now than I was when I was 20!

I joined Spark People on June 12, 2006 and have found it very helpful. The resources and ideas are inspiring. Good luck to all of us. By December 2008, I weighed 147 pounds and was wearing size 10 pants (achieving one of my goals).

Unfortunately, multiple injuries in 2009 forced me to stop my intense exercise program for six months and give my body time to recuperate. Of course, this resulted in gaining 11 pounds-- bummer.

In November 2012, I married my new husband, Jim. When I saw my back flab in the wedding video, I said, "ACK! Back to Spark and the daily workouts."

Now I'm back on Spark and back to my workouts. The size 10 pants are a bit too tight, but I'm pursuing my goals with vigor.

My Goals:
Lower my body mass index to within normal range.

Improve overall health.

Fit into a size 10 by 6/30/12

32" waist by 12/31/102

Lose another 20 pounds to get to 137.

My Program:
60 Minutes of cardio 6 days per week:
- Walking, dancing, cycling, jogging, gardening, swimming, eliptical trainer.

- Strength training (with weights) or pilates at least 2 times per week.

- Successfully follow the paleo diet.

- Track calories, food, and fitness on SparkPeople goals.

Personal Information:
In 2001, my weight was at an all-time high. That year, I won a one-week trip to Canyon Ranch Resort and Spa. It changed my life.

With the help of SparkPeople, Canyon Ranch, and a book called "Body for Life for Women" by Pamela Peake, I have learned many new strategies. I now know what I have to do to lose weight and what I have to do to maintain. Yeah!!!!

Other Information:
Specific 2012 Goals:
1 - Reduce my waist to a 32 inches by 12/31/12.
2 - Get into a size 10 -- comfortably--by 6/30/12.
3 - Do 60 munutes of cardio at least 6 days per week.
4- Do strength training at least 2 times per week.
5- Stay active on Spark
7 - Follow paleo diet
8- Limit alcohol intake.
