I'm an eternal optimist and see the glass as half full.

I do have my share of eating and body image issues. I grew up in a large family and food was closely monitored to ensure we had enough food for each pay check. So, sometimes I obsess about food and my thighs.

Throughout my adult life (after my first baby) I had to work at being at my desired weight and I was successful at maintaining.... until about 5 years ago when I met my husband. We enjoyed eating together and eating whatever my heart desired became a regular habit. I've lost and gain 10-20 pounds for the last 5 years.
My activity level went down as we sat together on the sofa enjoying each other's company. I wanted to make sure he was happy so I adopted his habits (yep, sounds a bit codependent). Although I'm not happy with my body size, I'm happier in ever other way then I've been in my life. My hubby is very supportive and understands the changes I need to make to be healthy. I'm responsible for my actions. Thankfully, I do learn from mistakes

My advantages to getting fit are:
Feel good in my skin
Won't feel embarrassed in a swim suit
Will want to go out socially
Fit into my black leather pants
No extra fat in my belly when bending over
Smaller saddle bags
Will feel younger
Increased confidence
I will enjoy clothes shopping

My Goals:
I will use sparkpeople to track and build healthy habits. I am working to reduce inches so I will be back to where I feel my best.

I will also plan for a maintainance plan before I reach my goal.

My Program:
Strength train 3 days a week. Target to burn 310 calories 4 days a week via Cardio workout. I teach bellydance 3 times a week as well as attend classes.

My food plan is to eat unprocessed whole foods as much as possible within my sparkpeople calorie range.

I try to buy organic products as much as possible and do not want to consume GMOs.

Personal Information:
I am only 50 and feel younger everyday.
I've been happily married since 2006.
I have 3 children; 2 girls and 1 boy and we are empty nesters. My girls have provided me with 5 grandchildren... wow!

I live in Kansas City and dream of living someplace warmer near the ocean.

Other Information:
I am not afraid to try almost anything once.

Bellydancing is my passion. My soul is set free with the dance. I would dance all the time if I didn't have to work.
