Welcome to my page! I'm a thirty-something mom of three with a great husband and a demanding full-time job. This is my third (yes, third) time on SP. I'm learning from past mistakes to make this time stick. ;)

A young man was walking along the ocean and saw a beach on which thousands and thousands of starfish had washed ashore. Further along he saw an old man walking slowly and stooping often, picking up one starfish after another and tossing each one gently into the ocean. "Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?," the young man asked.
"Because the sun is up and the tide is going out and if I don't throw them further in they will die," replied the old man.
"But, old man, don't you realize there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it! You can't possibly save them all, you can't even save one-tenth of them. In fact, even if you work all day, your efforts won't make any difference at all."
The old man listened calmly and then bent down to pick up another starfish and throw it into the sea. "It made a difference to that one,” he said.

I really like this story. I use it with my students when discussing global warming. It's overwhelming, but every little action is better than doing nothing at all. I guess the same can be said about losing weight. Every little change in my lifestyle, every good choice, every ounce lost is a step in the right direction.

Fitness Minutes: 2,725

My Goals:
Overall: I want to be healthy. I want to stop feeling self-conscience around people. I want more stamina in order to be more active with my kids.

Specific: 50 pounds by Christmas.
100 pounds by July 2010.

My Program:
Limit Calorie intake to 1200-1500.
High fibre, lower fat.
At least 3 fruits and 3 veggies a day.
Increase water intake.
Walk 5x per week.
Start doing some Pilates.
