I'm bringing myself back to life after 3 years of depression, poor sleep, overeating and lack of exercise. I'm working with a personal trainer three times a week, walking on the off days and doing yoga twice a day. I'm being meticulous with my diet. I am determined!

I am a custodial grandparent of a ten-year old girl and want to set a good example for her in terms of fitness and good eating habits too.

I'm a tall gal, over 6 feet tall. Any other tall girls out there please say 'hello.'

I lost about 50 pounds before I stated blogging here. So whatever my weight loss is listed as here, just add 50 to it for total loss to date. The numbered days here are from when I started blogging.

Family and friends have been asking what I'm doing so I am updating my profile here to give that info.

I read the book THE PRIMAL BLUEPRINT by Mark Sisson after I ran into a friend who lost a lot of weight and eliminated some health problems by eating that way. I decided to try it and it has made a huge difference in my life. Not only in terms of weight loss but over time it eliminates the urge to binge eat or overeat. It has helped with depression and insomnia. My skin has improved and looks better than it did when I was 30. And the list goes on.

My blog post of April 9 goes into my diet more.

The other thing that I attribute to my success is working with a personal trainer, and I have a great one ---Adam Stula of CT Fitness in West Haven. This is the smartest thing I've ever done for myself.

Adam started by working me with vertical load interval training three days a week and having me walk on the off days. My results surpassed anything I ever did on my own.

Recently he "upgraded" my training to a 3-day split routine, horizontal load. I'm excited about this new phase of my training and I cant wait to see where I am in a few months.

After only a few months of effort I feel better now than I did 20 years ago. I am inspired and hope that you will be too ! I used to run and lift weights on my own but did not feel as good as I do now.

BTW, I find it tedious to keep up with the food and exercise trackers here. I have been spot-on with my food for almost 90-days and have never once missed a workout. I blog my workouts so you can see what I do there.

Thanks for your support.

Fitness Minutes: 745

My Goals:
Run a 9 minute mile

Leg press 250 pounds

Squat with 100 LB barbell on my shoulders

Bench press my body weight once at goal weight

Hold plank position for at least 5 minutes

My Program:
I'm pretty much eating Paleo and spending a fortune on really good food. I eat organic, grain-fed beef, free range chicken and eggs, wild caught fish and organic produce, etc.

I do not consume sugar, white flour, caffeine, or alcohol.

I consume a moderate amount of dairy in the form of Kerry Gold butter and occasional yogurt.

I feel great when I eat this way! If you think you can't afford it, add up what you were spending on fast food and Duncan Donuts before. Yikes!

Personal Information:
I'm lucky to live near several great places to walk or run including a beautiful boardwalk at the West Haven Beach. And I'm blessed to have a personal trainer two doors away from me.

I also have great friends who support my efforts and want me to succeed.

I am very grateful for the resources that I have.

Some favorite quotes:

    emoticon Spark Buddie,

My message to help motivate you & ( Especialy ) Me this week is

“Don't rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can't love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.”
