I am a 49 year old female with an 19 year old son who will be leaving for college in September. I am so happy for him but so sad for me. I recently left my new husband of 4 years due to emotional abuse so I've eaten myself into depression and have gained about 40 lbs! I could have stood to lose 10 to 15 before that. Although I know better, when I'm upset or depressed, I head straight for the ice cream. I also ride a Harley and refuse to get on it in the Spring looking like this. I need help! Update 6/08. I am now divorced and 18 lbs lighter! I plan to continue on this very healthy and spiritual journey I am on. Thank you to all my SP friends/family for the support, love and guidance. I couoldn' t have gotten this far without you. God Bless You All! Make that 21.6 lbs lighter!! Praise the Lord!
7/14/08 - 25 LBS AND COUNTING!!! Life is good and my relationship with God and my Angels is absolutely wonderful!
10/11/08 - 31.4 LBS and COUNTING!!! None of my jeans fit me anymore - back in SIZE 10 - Woohoo!!! Thank you SP!
12/27/08 - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! My spiritual journey has simply exploded and I am experiencing true miracles! Praise God! This year, I truly felt the real meaning of Christmas and celebrating the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I've missed all of you so much and intend on making sure I check in at least a few times per week. I am now down 34 lbs and actually bought a cute black mini-skirt that I wore on Christmas Eve and got so many compliments. I also bought my own beautiful townhouse for my son and I and my closing is on 1/16/09. Please pray for me and that all goes smooth and easy. I have my mortage commitment and it is sitting at FHA right now waiting for final approval. I have all the confidence in God that it IS approved and I should receive the good news this coming week so stay tuned....It's great to be back :) Update 2/09: My mortgage is approved - Praise God!!! My son and I will no longer be throwing our money away renting! God has led me to this incredible opportunity and I am now beginning a beautiful new phase of my life and look forward to having all of you come along with me :) More to come after the move!

My Goals:
I need to get back to my ideal weight so that I can stop feeling ill, having back problems, etc. I am determined to lose 50 lbs and look better than ever. I definitely want to look good in a bathing suit this summer! I also want to help anyone else that needs support.

My Program:
I just joined today so I've printed out my grocery list and plan on shopping in the am so I can make my plan for my first week. I also joined a gym several weeks ago and definitely want to get back there as soon as I get over this flu :-(

Personal Information:
I live in Northern CT, recently separated. I work for a national publishing company in advertising. I was traveling extensively but just switched jobs within the company and will now be home every night...more time to work out!

Other Information:
One of my most favorite things to do (besides hanging out with my son) is riding my new Harley! It's so liberating and the back roads of New England are gorgeous to ride on.

    I just like to come around and leave little messages that I think are noteworthy just in case you might be interested. Today I saw this brief article on Garlic.

    “With its powerful blood-thinning effects, garlic is widely used to help prevent artery blocking blood clots that can lead to a heart attack or stroke. The typical recommendation for this purpose is one clove of fresh garlic or one half to three quarters a teaspoon of garlic powder daily.

    Garlic is also known to prevent stomach and colorectal cancers, stave off the common cold and fight viruses.”

    Here’s some interesting avocado info:

    Avocado and Weight Loss/Maintenance:

    • Avocados can be a satisfying addition to a calorie-reduced diet, when they are eaten in lieu of other fats.
    • When enjoyed in place of other fats, avocados can be a satisfying addition to a calorie-controlled diet.

    Do you like guacamole? Here’s an easy recipe for it:

    Roughly mash the flesh of 1 avocado. Mix in 2 Tbs. Diced sweet onion, 6 diced cherry tomatoes, the juice of ½ lime, and 1 jalapeno pepper (optional). So easy and very good!

    Just thought I’d pop in and see what’s going on in your neck of the woods!

    Here’s a good tip I found for: MUSTARD BOTTLE DRESSING

    Don’t throw away empty Dijon or brown mustard containers. The little bit of mustard containers. The little bit of mustard that remains inside can easily be turned into a delicious honey-mustard salad dressing. Just add red wine vinegar, salt, pepper and a little honey to the container. Shake it, then add some olive oil and shake it again. It’s ready to serve.

    Here’s some food for thought:

    You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction you are heading immediately!

    As long as you’re willing to change your direction, you can reach absolutely and destination! The key? You need to be ‘willing’ to change.
