Hello everyone - thanks for looking at my new page. I am in the medical field, so I feel like I *should* practice what I preach. I grew up as the skinny kid who never had to eat right and exercise - as adulthood came, my metabolism and bad habits caught up with me. I was shocked to see pictures of me from high school compared with pictures now. My friends were all fit and fabulous and had much better habits than me, and it was embarrassing to be out with them and make less healthy choices. I even had someone from a previous relationship tell me I had to get to the gym and do more cardio and stop eating the kinds of foods I ate.

After suffering through depression and anxiety and suddenly finding myself on my own in a new city, I finally have decided to do something about this - okay, a little for revenge - but really because the people on this website have inspired me and showed me that you really can change your life for the better.

I can't believe the amount of stamina I've gained in the past few months. I also can't believe how bad I was eating before, and I think I will be needing help to find the right balance between diet and exercise, and also remembering to take time for myself and get good sleep and relaxation.

Thanks to all of you for inspiring me, and I look forward to joining this journey with you.

Fitness Minutes: 40

My Goals:
1. Complete my first 5K

2. Tone up all over

3. Lose 5-10 pounds

4. Start to cook more on my own instead of takeout

5. Slowly increase the amount of fruits and vegetables I eat

6. Try yoga

7. Eat a good breakfast daily

8. Have a healthy vegetarian diet

9. Have a beach body!

10. Relax and enjoy life!

My Program:
1. Cardio 30-60 minutes 4-5 times a week

2. Toning 2 times a week (combination of isometric exercises and dumbbell exercises)

3. Pilates 1 time a week

4. 8 glasses water a day

5. Wiser choice of snacks with more protein and less sugar

6. Several small meals a day

7. Regular log-in to SparkPeople

    Hey hi from NYC!
    I lived in Brookline for 2 years and really loved it...Lived in creaky old Longwood Towers ...thinking of moving back up there. What's the vibe in Brookline like these days? I wonder what a 1 bedroom apt goes for..Kelly

    So you are in Boston? I lived there for several years. I loved the NE Aquarium. My boss is often in Boston working on fMRI/Acupuncture research at Mass General. No dice on going with him though.

    Not to worry... Most Pats fans in the Boston area are true football fans so they won't hold your obvious character flaw against you. LOL
