It's been almost 2 years since I topped out at 300 lbs. I lost 15 lbs and joined Sparkpeople 3 months later. I've been losing and gaining the same 20 lbs ever since.

Enough! This is my promise to myself that this time I will crack the mental barrier that sends me spiraling off course each time I get below 260. This time I will be consistent for more than a few weeks at a time. This time I will demand of myself the same care and concern I give to my loved ones. There will be no next time. This time there is only now. Today I am fit.

It's hard to balance my fierce, determined side with my goober side. Even though I've learned to accept and even embrace that side, it pops up in unexpected ways. Take, for example, my username. Yes, I'm from Cincinnati, but my name is not Dora. I chose this name because I was thinking about the fish from Finding Nemo. "Just keep swimming" is one of my mantras. If I can at least do one little thing each day to be a healthier person, I can eventually reach my goals. About 2 weeks ago it dawned on me that DOREY is the fish from Finding Nemo, not DORA.

I'm keeping the name as it is, though, because it's me: a goofball from Cincinnati that makes silly mistakes but at her core is just trying to do better and swim a little further each day.

My Goals:
Exercise goals:
I've had to throw out all my goals due to my back injury, but I'm healing. Currently, try to do the following:

-10 min exercise first thing every day
-swim 30 min 2x/wk
-dumbbell ST 2x/wk
-resistance band circuit 3x/wk (at work)
-go for at least a short walk every day

My Program:
Program? What program? I spend as much time back-sliding as progressing. I do know that when I hit the basics I see progress. So I have to keep focused on those:
-7-8 hours of sleep
-1 gallon + water and herbal teas each day (I'm a big girl. I need a lot of water)
-5+ freggies per day (that's fruits and veggies)
-10 minutes of exercise each day.
-walk as often as I can and constantly challenge myself with different courses of varying inclines.

Lessons to learn:
-It's not about how I look but about how I feel.

-Sometimes the best lessons are learned when the scale is not moving.

-Few things are so bad that procrastination doesn't make them worse. So stop procrastinating!!

    As for how to get a good night's sleep, I have read that you should make your room a sanctuary. Remove everything that doesn't relate to you going to sleep, or relaxing. I bought a fountain that plays different sounds. I especially like the sound of the water. It relaxes me. Maybe you can find a cd or fountain that relaxes you.

    I saw your introduction on the 30's with 100 pound to loose forum and I wanted to stop by your page, and introduce myself. Once I seen your page, I realized that we have a lot in common. I too am back on the weight loss track as of January of 09. It took for me to regain the weight I had lost for me to realize what I was doing to myself. Also, I love Nemo.
