I'm in my late 40s and married with 2 rookie adult children (18 and 20) and a 17-year-old. I have struggled with my weight since the birth of that 17 year old, although my husband rightfully claims that I can't call it baby weight any more. I was diagnosed in November 2016 with cardiac issues: a left branch bundle block (electrical), an enlarged left ventrical, and heart failure. Fun stuff. I now have a pacemaker. I have inherited some incredibly crappy genes. I have been an active member here on and off for years -- but I am more motivated than ever to safely lose the weight.

Fitness Minutes: 27,401

My Goals:
As of Aug 17, my main goal is to make it easier for my heart to pump -- which means losing weight and doing cardio (which is a major deal for someone whose hobbies are all sedentary). I would like to eventually lose 50 pounds -- although I'd be really happy with 35.

My Program:
I have to go slow on the cardio -- but am following Spark People dietary suggestions and have subscribed to the Spark Coach through premium. I've tried other diet sites and always come back here. It's the best out there!

Personal Information:
A Chicago girl with 3 almost adult children, a wonderful husband, 2 Old English Sheepdogs, and 1 high-maintenance cat. I was a freelance law firm marketing consultant for 15 years but went back to an office in Jan. 17 and am now in alumni relations / fundraising in a department at my alma mater, Northwestern University.
