I am a wife and mother of three grown children and caregiver to my mother who lives with us.

One of the greatest things in life is being functional and healthy in old age. That has become my ultimate goal. I have really appreciated all the support from everyone.

If you could sum up my life the past few years, it would be this phrase, "the face of Alzheimer's." My father died of dementia earlier this year and my mother moved in with us about 3-1/2 months before he died. They both have/had multiple medical problems, making the last several years grueling.

ADDENDUM: My mother is now deceased and I am slowly regaining my life.

My Goals:
Lose as much weight as I can (I am not setting defining goals right now).

Lower blood pressure.

More energy.

Never have diabetes.

My Program:
Get 8 hours of sleep a night.

Drink plenty of water and fluids.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and get enough protein.

Walking and biking when possible (currently very little). I use housework for exercise, which makes for an even cleaner house! I don’t count housework in my fitness because I prefer to count “me” time which comes after my work is done. I do count gardening because that is a hobby. But sometimes I wish I hadn’t planted so much when I was younger!

Personal Information:
I live in snow country. It also gets hot in the summer. The seasons are a big factor in my life. This is also farm country.

I like organic gardening and using heirloom seeds.

I like nature photography.

I am a lifelong learner.

My husband and I have been married 40 years.

Other Information:
I have been called Pollyanna at times. :)
